Ours does and I didn't know this until just recently when I called. Next week is our two year wedding anniversary and I always take the week off, so I thought LO could stay home with me. Needless to say, she'll be at daycare a few hours each day since we are paying for the week anyway.

Yep! We pay for 52 weeks no matter what. I wish we got a week of vacation.

I think after she has been there for a year, we are allowed two weeks a year where we can keep her out and not have to pay.

Yup, we pay for 51 weeks a year. Daycare is closed for 1 week around the holidays.

Yes - most daycares are this way. They have to have the same number of teachers there even if your child stays home.

We are allowed 2 vacation weeks per year- but we still pay 1/2 the cost for the week. Since they still have to pay the teachers I get it.
I'm thankful for the small savings!
Although for my week off in August, I'm considering paying the full week and having a day or 2 to myself. We always use one week at Christmas time.

The daycare I worked in was like this. I wish it were like that when I was a nanny though! They would take vacations and I wouldn't get paid, it sucked because I still had bills and a stomach to feed while they were at the beach. lol

Yes, we have to pay but we got a credit for a missed month when LO had pneumonia.

If you pay weekly, ours allows for a week off with no tuition. But if you are monthly, there isn't any discount. I think its to make up for some months having more weeks, because the monthly rate is just 4 weekly payments.

The daycare we used was closed the week between Christmas and New Years but we had to pay for it anyhow. To make up for it we were given a week free of our choice. During the free "week" our daughter was still allowed to attend we just didn't have to pay.

@Bao: @Mrs. Pen: That's terrible! We pay our nanny when we go on vacation and she has two weeks PTO per year. We're salaried employees so it's not like our jobs dock our pay, why would we dock hers? Like you said, bills to pay! Sorry to thread-jack!

@hummusgirl: Yeah all the families I ever worked for still got paid. It really stressed me out when they would take time off because I wouldn't know what I was going to do. I already didn't get paid much to begin with, but that's another story

@hummusgirl: @Bao: there was one nanny job I worked, live in FT, that offered two weeks paid vacation and sick time. Every other family didn't pay me for their or my vacations. However, one family did pay me if I was supposed to come in and something came up where they didn't need me (sick child, change of plans etc).

We're allowed a few vacation weeks -- I think 3 maybe? For vacation weeks we only pay 1/2 of the normal tuition.

We pay when we take vacations, but we don't have to pay when she takes a vacation (it's an in-home daycare). It makes sense, she needs to be able to count on an income for financial planning.

Yes and no. We get x # vacation days per year but you have to request it two weeks in advance just like at your job.
I'd rather have sick days over vacation days!

After you're there 6 months, you can take 2 weeks per calendar year at 1/2 price. It's not great, but I guess it's better than full price!

We are allowed 2 weeks or 10 days of "vacation" each year. They also let you change up your days for summer. He goes 5 days a week during the school year & now that I'm off for the summer he only goes 2. We also had the option of him not going at all and saving his spot for the fall by paying the registration fee early.
I'm surprised that so many daycares don't offer any "vacation"!

We are invoiced for 43 weeks during the school year. Then when you register for the summer you can opt out of as many weeks as you want (as long as you are registering for a minimum of 2 weeks). Then they invoice you for the number of weeks you signed up for.

We pay for 50 weeks a year-we don't pay the week of Christmas and a week in July when she takes an annual vacation. We use an in home daycare
