I went to the OB Monday (4/30) and get bloodwork done. At that time I was estimated to be 5 weeks 4 days. Today would be 6 weeks. I got a call saying that my HCG is only 355 and to come back in for bloodwork. I am assuming the worse. Does this mean I did or will miscarry?

Not necessarily. It's still really early. Plenty of healthy pregnancies can have low(er) HCG levels. It could just mean you are not quite as far along as was calculated using the standard measuring method (lmp).

Not necessarily! I think the most important numbers that they check in early pregnancy are to make sure that your numbers are doubling every 48 hours (ish). So the repeat blood test should be insightful.

As the others said that early in pregnancy people's numbers vary like crazy. And one hcg reading is actually pretty much useless. They always do a second reading because the most important thing is not what the number is, but that the number is doubling as it should. Don't stress about anything until you get your second reading.

My hormone levels rose to 550. They are afraid I have a tubal pregnancy and want to see me tomorrow for an ultrasound. My doctor has dropped the ball on this big time. Another doctor at their office called to fill me in and express his concern.

Well things changed - I was asked to come in immediatley for an ultrasound and blood work today due to some bloating. He said that it does not appear to be a tubal (won't say it's not though, probably to cover himself) and that there is a gestational sac. They took more blood .We have two options: 1) it is an abnormal pregnancy where we will either have a D&C or wait for nature to take it's course. or 2) We are only 3 weeks pregnant. I DONT SEE HOW THIS COULD BE POSSIBLE!
Here are my dates: last MC was March 21st. Charted on FF and my tempature rose on April 6th. We BD on April 3, 5, and 6 and not since. Not once!

Wow. That's tough. If I were you I don't think I would feel comfortable getting a D&C at this point since there is so much uncertainty. Did they talk about possibly continuing to do blood work to see how things progress. It seems crazy to me that they would be able to see a sac if you were only three weeks pregnant. Even at 4 weeks my doc told me I wouldn't be able to see anything on an u/s.

@alison206: Well good news on the tubal front, but I'm sorry there's still so much uncertainty.
My doctors have said that it's really hard to tell how far along things are in the very early stages of pregnancy, simply because of how small and underdeveloped everything is that they're looking at in the U/S. Maybe keep doing your HCG count bloodwork and see where you are in a few more days? That seems really weird re: the 3 week dating to me too.

We are moving forward with d&c. My levels went down. We are heartbroken but we know we can get pregnant and we will try again. Thank you for all of your kind supportive words. Has anyone else had a d&c.

I'm so sorry - my miscarriage happened spontaneously so I didn't have a D&C. Big, big hugs.

I'm sorry for u and your hubby. I did have a D&C after my miscarriage. For me it was fine and a quick recovery. I did bleed for a few weeks but that also was no big deal. Good luck you'll be fine.
