Is this even a thing??? If so, what are the restrictions and at what age does it start to apply ?

I've heard someone mention it on here before! I think it sounds awesome for those times your kid is doing better but hasn't quite met the hours requirement for being over the bug. I do worry about exposure to all the other germies though...
Great question!

Ours doesn't but I do remember reading about a place near me that does - its affiliated with the hospital daycare.

@Mrs. Coral: That definitely had occurred to me...you'd hate for your kid to get a new bug while still recovering...
@Mamaof2: That would be pretty cool. I wish my hospital had a day care!

NO, but I wish! There is a hospital here that does sick care for kids in daycares and I have a coworker who actually used it, but I just feel weird about putting LO in a new environment for 1-2 days.

They don't, but my company offers back-up dependent care that includes a nanny service for sick care. I've never used it since we've always been able to work from home or otherwise flex time to care for DS, but I have coworkers who've used it and loved it. One met her regular babysitter that way.

No, but I wish there were some kind of service for this! It is such a challenge to figure out what to do when DS is sick!

Our daycare has a special sick wing. It is staffed daily with a nurse, there are 4 rooms (they are split up based on illness - there's a "throwing up room", a rash room, fever room... I can't remember the other). I believe it's on a different ventilation system too.
Babies/children can go there if they get sick during the day and parents aren't able to pick up, or they can be dropped off there in the morning knowing they are ill. The cost is $50 per day if your kids go to daycare there, but it's $70 per day I think for anyone else (yep, they take kids that aren't enrolled).
I generally take off when DD is sick, but we did have a day that she got sick at school early in the day and both DH and I had meetings for work and just couldn't get there to pick her up. It's awesome just knowing it's there for those reasons! I also love that there is a nurse on staff at all times too, just in case anything does happen.

@CarrieLouWho: That is probably one of the best things I've ever heard.

@FliegepilzHut: We didn't realize how awesome it was until we found out that other places didn't have this! It's awesome!
@daniellemybelle: it's pretty amazing when you are in a bind!

No, but the local childrens' hospital does. It's pricey though, so only really an
Option if we both can't miss something that day.
