Our daughter has been in 3 different child care centers. The first one did not provide, nor did they apply sunscreen. It drove me crazy because my kid is super fair. The last two both provided and apply sunscreen. We just had to fill out a consent form.

They just ask that we apply sunscreen before school. I guess it's too much work for them to put it on every child before going outside. This year the teachers are friendly and will put it on LO as long as we bring it to school.

It seems completely insane that any daycare would refuse to put sunscreen on kids, especially in the south! Its a PITA Im sure, but i would be super upset if my kid came home sunburnt every day.

The same as most other people, we provide it and sign a consent form and they put it on them. It never occurred to me, though, that they might assume we put it on in the morning and only do it in the afternoon - I should check on that.

We provide sunscreen and they apply every day. They actually do a great job - we're in Georgia and I've only seen one kid get burned and it seems like she ALWAYS burns (very fair and maybe her sunscreen isn't as effective?)

We are supposed to apply in the morning. They provide and apply in the afternoon. They will use ours if we provide it. I see how it's easier to use theirs as they can go through lathering up all the kiddos quickly with one kind.

We choose whether to use the classroom sunscreen or provide our own, sign a consent form, and they apply it. We send our own because I'm allergic to chemical sunscreens and DD has sensitive skin, so I don't want to risk a reaction to the school's sunscreen.

Until recently we had to supply the sunscreen and they would apply. But a couple weeks ago they bought a ton of sunscreen and we were able to pay a flat $6 fee for the whole summer and sign a release and now we just use their sunscreen.

Ours asks each family to buy one bottle of the same sunscreen and then they apply it. Keeps it simple since everyone uses the same kind unless there is an allergy. I was happy with the kind they use.

Yes, they provide sunscreen and put it on them, however, both of my boys are very fair and already got a sunburn a few weeks ago on a really nice day because they did not start using it yet. The staff felt terrible and apologized profusely. I do take in our own sunscreen that I want daycare to use.

All daycares we've been with have provided sunscreen. All asked that the kids come with an initial layer of sunscreen in the mornings. They'll reapply after naptime.

We send them lathered up at drop off then they reapply. They ask everyone to provide one tube and they apply with consent for later outside times. My kids are fair and we live in a very sunny place but so farm it has worked!

When LO was in daycare, we were expected to apply it before drop off. They typically did not go outside after nap time (it was a preschool schedule so 9am-3pm with aftercare until 5pm) so that one application covered the morning outside time.
