if you pay a full year's worth of tuition in advance?
I read this in a personal finance article, and while i'm not sure about our current daycare centre, i'm wondering if yours offers you that option?
If so, would you take advantage of it?

no they don't but even if they did we couldn't afford to pay it upfront - its a lot!!

No; I wish! They also don't let me pay via credit card, which is an even bigger gripe I have!

I don't know if they would have given us that option, we paid weekly.
For preschool, we have to pay tuition in two installments, no discounts.

We pay weekly, I don't believe we have the option. Which would be nice since we have an account from work to set money aside non-taxed for daycare expenses.

Hmm....that's interesting. I never thought to ask! I'm going to check for sure.

@LuLu Mom: The dependant care account accrues over time though. You couldn't take out the full $5,000 (if you elect to max out withholding) at the time you incur the cost.
Our day care doesn't have this option as far as I know. But it would have to be a significant discount (say 15-20%) for me to justify taking that money out of investments in order to pay upfront. And I would also want to know what happens if for some reason you leave the day care, are you fully reimbursed for unused pre-paid tuition?

No, but we get a whopping $5 discount for the week if we pay on Monday Every little bit helps, right??

No, the only discount we'll get is when baby #2 starts and he/she will get a $10/week discount (whoop-de-freaking-do)

They offer a discount for paying with cash/check and for multiple children. We pay monthly.

@MamaMoose: Very true, but if I was able to do it next year I could use the withholdings from this year to do it for next year. I usually just take the withholdings in a lump sum at the end of the year.

@Freckles: yes. We get a discount for paying 6 months in advance. We always ask and have always received one. Sometimes they run a "special" and we'll take advantage of that if it is higher than what we normally get off.

@LuLu Mom: Ahhhh gotcha. I just recently checked on mine and had accrued about $1400 so I went ahead and submitted for reimbursement. Then I got depressed over how few weeks I had to submit to get to $1,400.

@yoursilverlining: same here. I get so mad thinking about all the points and miles I am missing out on.

Nope. I would be worried that if I left the daycare for some reason I wouldn't get my money back.

I didn't think to ask but we probably couldn't afford to pay that much all at once unless it was a seriously significant discount.

Man, I wish! I would totally take advantage of that.
We don't get any sort of discounts, even with baby #2.
@lawbee11: That's $260/year! That would buy a couple nice pieces of clothing!!
