I would be annoyed if my kid looked like that when I picked them up at regular pick up time. If I stopped in early and they were in the middle that's one thing but I think part of doing those activities is planning accordingly and having enough time for cleanup. It's not that hard to keep a pile of old shirts to use as smocks either. Perhaps you could ask about donating some?

It hard because I've worked in situations where kids get dirty. From my experience, most caregivers try really hard to keep the kids and their surroundings clean, but it can be so hard to do, even when kids do wear smocks. As for things like glue on the face, it's hard to know if it has been on a child's face for hours. If ever you har any questions about things like that, it's always more than okay to speak with your LO's caregivers.

@Andrea: Oh, they don't have free choice time where they may have used glue at another time? You should ask them about it. Since glue dries clear and the kids were running around outside after using the glue, maybe they genuinely really didn't see it. I think talking to them would be great because it would make them more aware and make you feel better.

@Andrea: Our daycare is also more intimate. There's just 4 kids there on some days so it's easier to manage. And it's also half day, so just the probability of him getting dirty is less than if he was there all day.
