I have heard numerous times that people send their kids to preschool and they come home with paint on their clothes that can't be removed. I don't understand this. All of the daycares we have used have used washable paints. Do some daycare/preschools not use washable paints? And parents are okay with that?

My worst problem is food, specifically tomato sauce. My kids have ruined tons of clothes because they can't use bibs.
But I do agree with @Mamaof2: markers are a huge problem.

I'm not sure if it's paint (although I'm pretty sure, because he came home with a Father's Day craft with a VERY similar colour) but yes, my son has two onesies that have been ruined with yellow something.

Her clothes have been ruined more by food than by art supplies. It doesn't really bother me, I don't send her to school in anything precious.

The only stain I haven't been able to get out occured with some deeply colored frosting...must have been a birthday that day, lol.

@lamariniere: Ditto! He comes home with so much food stains, it makes me sad. I'm like that was a new shirt!! Sigh. But I know DS doesn't let you put a bib on him, but I think they could have done a better job of cleaning him up though.

The center uses different brands of washable art supplies and some kinda suck. I don't mind too much because my girls don't wear anything fancy to school.

Yeah... Not all washable paints are made equal! Also my kids have gotten paint on clothes when they were doing handprints for some kind of gift like Mother's Day.

No. I'm always amazed at how clean LO is at the end of the day. She always brings home art too. I know she wears a bib to eat.

She used to. It would drive me nuts, the"washable" paints that didn't wash out.
Now she's much more particular about keeping herself clean and insists on wearing a smock. -
Yes, although usually stained more by food than by art projects. And she once dunked her while lovey into green paint and it's still slightly green. She can be highly attached to it so I suppose I'm glad they let her stay happy and keep it and still do art, but really? Mostly I just expect her to come home filthy and don't send her to school in anything Id be too sad about being ruined. It also means she has some fugly outfits she goes to school in, but oh well! Haha.

Yes, he ruined a pair of khaki pants. Came home covered in blue paint. I didn't think anything of it because I assumed it was washable- it was not! or oxi-cleanable! It was there to stay.
Also he has marker marks on some shirts.Parents buy the supplies and they school puts them all together for everyone. I suppose someone didn't buy washable and its now mixed in with everything else.

As some pp's have mentioned, some washable paints aren't very washable! We don't get too many permanent stains so I'm not that bothered.

Yes there have been a few things where paint or markers don't come off. But I'd rahter LO enjoy herself and explore all the materials they provide than keep her clothes pristine. I just know now to keep her best outfits for home-days
And, I still sometimes send her in with the stained clothes anyway if it isn't that bad.

Knock on wood, DD is getting minimal paint on her clothes and it has all come out. I think Art time is pretty closely supervised and only a few kids at a time do the project, though.

@mediagirl: Knock on wood** I've gotten all stains out. I have different treatments based on the severity of the stain. I have it down to a science. LOL.

no, he is sometimes dirty from food stains or from being outside, but most of it washes out. i also don't put him clothes that i would really care if they got stained.

Most stains I can get out. But I don't like to risk it with their nicer clothes, so I buy cheaper clothes just for daycare.
But I do agree with @Mamaof2: markers are a huge problem.
And, I still sometimes send her in with the stained clothes anyway if it isn't that bad.
