We are looking at a Spanish immersion preschool and I'm interested in other parents' experiences.

DS (4 years old) has gone to a combined English-Spanish immersion preschool for the past two years - last year he had 3 afternoons of English and 2 afternoons of Spanish immersion a week, and this year he is in the full-day program, so every morning is Spanish immersion and every afternoon is English. We really love it - he's definitely picking up Spanish, and it's amazing to have the opportunity to introduce languages to him so early. DH and I don't really speak Spanish, so the only Spanish he gets is in school (and he watches Spanish shows on TV from time to time).

@Beehive: That's great! This school does 100% Spanish from my understanding. We also don't speak Spanish though we have Spanish speaking family members that live in another state.
I wonder how LO would transition jumping into a new classroom (hard enough!) where she doesn't understand anything they are saying though. Seems like a lot to ask of a 3 year old!

my son goes to full Spanish immersion pre-school, and we are very happy with it. my lingering concern is how do I keep it going? but so far I am happy with the school in general, regardless of the language factor. And yes, at this point (almost 3) he fully understands Spanish (my mom speaks to him in Spanish and he understands)

@oskarsmommy: This school actually offers an after-school program for elementary school kids as well as summer camps so that's really nice to know we would have that!
How old was your son when he started? Was it hard for him to join a classroom where he didn't understand what was being said?
Do you feel like he is learning in the usual areas (letter sounds, counting, etc.) at an appropriate pace or is the focus more on Spanish fluency?
