My 8 1/2 month old has issues with a sippy cup, but is amazing with a straw.
Does your LO use a straw or sippy?

Ds has been using a straw cup since 6.5 mths. Hated the sippy!

I've been so bad about remembering to offer the straw cup. I'm trying to do it more now so that she gets a better hang of it. Going to our 9 mo appt. on Fri and will ask if we should try a sippy as well, even though I'd rather use the straw.

DS uses a straw sippy now. I actually introduced it to him today. He was drinking water straight from a cup before today and will probably only use the sippy when we're out.

We used a sippy for maybe a month? Then went straight to a straw cup.

She usually uses a sippy, since that's what they use at daycare, but she just got the hang of a straw cup and loves straws now....so we do a bit of both.

Mostly straw cups. We have a few sippy cups but they aren't used as often.

12 months and still has trouble with both. I've been offering them more and more but the truth is, this girl likes having liquids in a bottle, sprawling out on top of us, and having us hold the bottle. She will hold and drink water from a sippy. She doesn't like juice, or at least not apple juice. Ah, what a complicated life.

Straw. He couldn't figure out the sippy so I switched to straw and he got it pretty quickly. I thought about having him try the sippy again since he is older, but I haven't yet.

My lo drank out of one of my straw cups by accident and has used one evee since. Around 8 months as well I think. This past month I've been giving her sippy cups as well because she will eventually have to drink milk out of one and with the straw cups the milk creeps up and leaks out the straw She is still having trouble tipping the sippy on her own but she is catching on!

My 13 month old uses both. We've gone back and forth a lot, but she learned to use the sippy first. I feel like I'd prefer her to use the straw cup for developmental reasons (plus it leaks less), but when I really need her to chug juice/water on a hot day, the sippy cup definitely gets the job done quicker.

We gave her a straw cup at 6 mos and she did great with it. We've never tried a sippy.

Sippy. The few times I've tried to give her a straw at restaurants, she's been totally mystified by it!

We used a straw from the beginning but she also uses a sippy cup when she's drinking something that will stain.

Started with sippy at 6 months and switched to straw at 8 months. All her cups are straw cups and she has no problem drinking from a regular cup (just more spills so we still use a straw cup at 22 months)

We've never used a sippy cup. We went straight to a straw cup. She started drinking out of a straw cup at around 9 months.

My son had a hard time with a straw, he could suck, but he didn't differentiate that he had to keep the cup vertical, he would always tip it and that would frustrate him.
We pretty much moved to open cups at 12 months.

Never tried a sippy. Went straight to straw at 6m. Sometimes we use a sports spout for water etc
