I have been putting sunscreen on the kids before school and provided sunscreen to the teachers to apply at school but DH said he saw some kids wearing wide brimmed hats outside at daycare.
Do you have a hat that you keep at daycare/school for your LO to wear outside? If so any recommendations? We have a Columbia Bora Bora hat for DS1 to wear with us but I would like to find something cheaper for him to wear at school (less than $30).

My youngest wears a hat when outside at daycare because he is very fair and even with sunscreen application I worry about his head, face and ears still getting burned. So he gets both - sunscreen and a hat!

Yep, both kids wear hats at daycare/school. They're very fair and I don't want their heads burned, plus it keeps the sun off their faces and necks. We just have random hats - some they pick out, some we do.

Our daycare requires kids to have a sunhat that they leave at daycare and wear anytime they go outside. They also put sunscreen on them every time they go out. (I don't put sunscreen on my daughter in the morning but I smell it on her most nights). We love the "i play" brand hats - you can find some styles on Amazon.

We are required to put sunscreen on in the morning and they reapply in the afternoon, and they require hats when outside always. DS is a red head with fair skin so we got a UV protectant wide brim hat with an adjustable head toggle...it was $40 but this is our second full summer with it and I think it will last until school at least! At home we use a ball cap mostly because I can monitor his sun exposure better.

I left a hat at daycare but no idea if they put it on her... I put sunscreen on in the morning and they re-apply. Lately it's been so hot that I know they're not out for that long.

Yes; daycare asks/requires a sun hat to be left in their cubby.

Yes, both kids (1.5 and 3.5) have hats in their cubbies that they wear whenever they're outside. They also put sunscreen on them (I think twice a day, whenever they go outside).

Yes, we got one at costco and have also sent carters ones my mom monogrammed for us. Both are very inexpensive

No, I wish preschool required it. DD is so into fitting in she wouldn't wear one of the other kids don't. Fortunately (?) she seems embarrassed of her new bob cut at school and has been choosing to wear a hat all day everyday since. Works for me.

Nope - no hats. We do sunscreen in the morning, they do in afternoon. DD2's play yard is mostly shady. Never had a problem with DD1 with no hat. DD2 just yanks them off whenever I try (she's 15 mo now). I see a few kids here and there with hats, but most don't wear one.

@BlueWolverine: Same. A (17m) would never keep a hat on. And D (4.5y) will sometimes wear a baseball cap, but that's his fashion choice, it's not for sun. They apply lotion every time they go out (including face and ears). And there's a pretty decent amount of shade on both outdoor areas.

We often send it in with her but she doesn't always have it on when we pick her up. We put sunscreen on in the morning and they reapply after nap. The playground does have a lot of shade.

I wish! Ugh. Almost 2 and he hates hats, he won't keep them on. Of course he is super blond/fair and we live in Florida and he LOVES to play outside. Sigh. What I do instead is use kids/baby spray sunscreen, spray into my hand, then rub all over his head into his scalp! His hair is very fine and thin so he has a lot of exposed scalp. He looks a little silly, but whatever. I know as a kid my scalp was constantly burned and it hurts so bad.

My son just has a half day pre school. We are required to put sun screen on and send a hat. I just send a baseball cap!

Yep, we have a couple $3 baseball hats from Target dollar spot and a couple iPlay hats from Amazon. DDs hair is thin, so we either have to gunk it up with sunscreen or don a hat.

If my kids are outside they're wearing a hat... even when it's cloudy ! This is with me and when my oldest was in daycare . I think always making them wear a hat since pretty much birth has meant they don't question it.

At 18 he fights hats and takes them off. So we sunscreen his head /scalp.
