I have VERY VERY sensitive nipples too. So sensitive, I refuse to sleep without a bra because I can't handle my shirt brushing them at night. I really want to breastfeed but worry I won't be able to.

They'll toughen up! In fact my doula told me to stop using any lotion or soap in the last couple months before delivery and I think that helps too.

I second that they will toughen up! I didn't really have issues with them being too sensitive to breastfeed. I would try not to overthink it, worry about it when/if you have to.

I wouldn't say awkward. More like painful. At least for me, but everybody is different.

I was very worried about this but had no issues beyond the typical pain the first few weeks. DD is 9 months & still breastfeeding just fine
