Just curious - does technology in your schools start in Kindergarten? I guess I never thought this before but today I saw a fundraiser hosted by a local teacher who wants iPads for the kids in the Kindergarten class she teaches.
Do your Kindergarten kids or will your Kindergarten kids use iPads or tablets in school?

Not currently. They use a traditional computer lab and are learning to keyboard and use the mouse.

No, there are computers in the media center, though, but according to my son, they haven't used them.

Yes, they have a set of 5 of them. I think thats the right amount since its perfect to expose them to it and encourage group work and collaboration.

Mine does. Their classroom has a set of 5, and they play math games on it as part of a rotation some mornings. Nothing much or for very long, so I don't mind it.

Oh gosh I hope not. I'm all for balance, and I wouldn't mind except they already spend too little time playing outside and too much time learning around here.
As an aside, our library system has invested big money into getting an Xbox in every branch. Now all the parents will have to spend their library visit peeling the kids away from that. In the meantime they don't have the money to finish repairs to our local branch that has been closed for a year. It seems to be a trend to put access to technology over things that will actually benefit kids.

No iPads. They have mini-computers for in the classroom, but I don't think they have used them yet. There is also a computer lab, but again, I don't think they've used it yet. The teacher said they probably won't start until more like midway through the school year when the kids have a better handle on reading.

I don't think they have tablets. There are a couple of desktops in her classroom and they go to the computer lab as one of their weekly specials.

Yes, he does. DS goes to public Kindergarten. His class has a class set of iPads and 5 desktop computers. They also go to the computer lab weekly for a minimum of an hour. Starting in 3rd grade (and going through 12th), all students in our county are issued individual laptops.

She's in pre-k. They do have tablets but they aren't used a lot and it's all educational (intro to coding, math skills, etc)

So far just desktops, but I know there are tablets they will eventually get their hands on.
