Are the Dr Brown's bottles worth the $$?

@Mrs. Polish: My LO loved those bottles for 4.5 months so it was worth it. I don't remember them being too expensive but maybe we used BRU coupons?
I hated cleaning all the parts!

I bought some and never even used them! They have more parts to clean which I don't like. Plus, LO and I both prefer using a wider nipple bottle because it's more similar to the breast. I know breastfeeding isn't applicable for you, but your little guy may still prefer the feel of a wider nipple. Tommee Tippee is our favorite!

we used dr. brown's because our LO was having such bad gas and dr. brown's had the whole system and after two days of hearing LO scream, i was more than willing to buy into it (picture me running around to every drugstore, grocery store and babies r us in a 5-mile vicinity out of desperation to find the solution to all our problems in, yes, a baby bottle). they were fine, but they certainly didn't result in a gas-free baby, which was an unrealistic expectation on my part anyway! we're now using avent natural because i wanted to use a bottle that had less parts to clean. i'm not sure there's a difference. but some people swear by the dr. brown's.
hm, just occurred to me that the avent bottles are pricey as well, and since i couldn't even give a definitive opinion on dr. brown's, my response is useless. i'm sorry.

YES. We tried 2 other brands first and we definitely had the best luck with these. C had some bad tummy gas issues for the first couple months until we switched. Cleaning all the parts sucks, but they were worth it.

We love ours, but our baby was easy w/ the bottle and would pretty much take anything. Luckily, most were given to us, so we didn't have to spend a lot on them.
Agree with others that all the parts can be something of a pain, though at nearly 10 months into the routine of it all, I can honestly say it doesn't even really bother me much anymore.

The parts were a PITA to clean but otherwise he loved them until about 5 months, when he went on a bottle strike. We ended up moving to MAM bottles after that.

@autumnlove: @mamamoose: the only negative I hear about them are the parts to clean. Can these not go in the dishwasher?

@Mrs. Polish: my LO is 4 moths old and I have never washed a single bottle in the dishwasher. We have six TT bottles and LO uses 3 a day at daycare. So I would have to run my dishwasher every other day and we usually only run it about twice a week. So I hand wash bottles after each use, and then sanitize them all in the Medela steam clean bags on Friday nights.

@MamaMoose: we actually use the Dr Brown's with the wider nipple for that reason. I accidentally bought the regular ones and DS wasn't a fan
Yes, they have more.parts but I think they're worth it. I bought enough bottles to last us about a week so we can run the dishwasher once or twice a week.

@Mrs. Polish: We didn't have gas issues, but LO definitely liked Dr. Brown's. They can go in the dishwasher, although for an infant I might also do a special scrub/rinse or boil them (pretty sure you can boil all the parts, but read the instructions!) just to make sure there's no residue from the dishwasher. I typically do an extra hand rinse of any straw-like things that go in the dishwasher.

My LO didn't like the Dr. Brown bottles because the slowest flow nipple was too fast for him.

Yes, they really were for us. But I don't think they were more expensive than the other (anti colic) bottles out there. They were a pain to clean and I boiled them often due to all the pcs.. But they were a lifesaver!

I wasn't a fan. I hated having all of the extra parts to clean and they didn't seem to help my LO's colic/gas issues. I preferred the playtex ventaire bottles instead.

Our LO loves Dr. Brown's and call me crazy but I notice a difference in his gassiness when we use them compared to our other bottles. I rinse and wash them in the dishwasher!

I throw all parts in the dishwasher. DS hasn't ever had colic. Every baby in his daycare class has the same bottles!

I don't know if they're waay better, but a lot of people think so and they have worked well for lo. I originally bought the platter ventaire which a lot of ppl like, but the nipple flows didn't quite work for us. If you haven't used other bottles, the cleaning will never know the difference in cleaning.

I'm not sure how well they work, but we've been using them from the start. We tried tommee tippee but didn't like it. Since we've been using them from the beginning, we're none the wiser to the extra parts. But my son is EBF so he only gets a couple bottles a day while I'm at work.
