I'm probably worrying too much but these are mine:
Mine are:
1. MIL (currently not talking to us)
2. FIL (doesn't have baby safe car)
3. BIL (works far away)
Besides you and DH, who are your LO's emergency contacts for daycare?

LO isn't in daycare, but our emergency contact is DH's twin brother (lives 30 mins away). Our next would be DH's aunt (20 mins away).

My BIL and SIL live 20 minutes away although they both work in the city during the day so that makes them at least 1 hour away. But if it was a real emergency, they could get there sooner in a car versus using public transportation.

All of our family is a plane ride away. So our emergency contacts will be friends. My number one will probably be my very dear friend who I work with. She is due a few months before me and our kids will be going to the same day care.

LO isn't in daycare. But if she were, it would be my mom, my FIL, and my brother. All people who don't have carseats, but I don't know anybody that I'm close enough to make an emergency contact that does.
If something happens to your LO, I'm sure your MIL will go right away, even if she has an issue with you right now.

Ours right now will be our two good friends because they are dependable. When my ILs move back probably them because they'll be retired and have all the time in the world! and they'll probably have an extra base or car seat too.

@autumnlove: what's not a "baby safe car?"
LO isn't in daycare, but at the gym he has emergency contacts and we listed of course DH first, then my mom (15 min away) and my sister (25 min away). We're really close to both and they are great with LO

@autumnlove: our emergency contacts are our parents. None of whom have car seats! It's kind of silly really - who has an extra car seat installed in their car "just in case"

I think we will use friends of DH's who live nearby and have a two year old. All our parents are 2.5-3 hours away. I figure if they do have to pick up they can belt the infant seat in without the base while she is still riding in that seat. No idea what they would do once she outgrows that seat though...have someone else watch their son and use his seat maybe?

LO only goes to daycare on an emergency basis but our contacts are MIL/FIL who live 45 min away with no car seat, and my parents who are about an hour away with no car seat either. The way I figure is that if for some reason they can't get hold of us, our parents might at least know of an alternative to reach us...
