I just had my first period at 17 mo post-partum (we are still breastfeeding full-time). It was basically one day and then another day of very light spotting. I'm used to a full 7 day, heavy flow. Is this typical while still nursing? When did your cycle return to "normal"?

I think mine is normal now at 5.5 months but I cant be 100% sure yet lol

@Mrsbells: haha that's true! I just know I've never had one like that. I was slightly worried it was implantation bleeding, which it wasn't lol.

Wow, 17 months!! I was hoping for several months to a year off from my period but it came back after one month.

hmm, maybe it's going to be "off" a little at first, especially while still nursing. I can't offer any experience... 15 months pp and still no period!

My cycle returned around 11 months. I too had just some very light flow the first month and over the past 3 months its gotten heavier.

i got it 2 months after weaning with charlie, so at 11 months. olive turns 1 tomorrow and still no period, so i expect my period to return some time after i wean!

Mine came back when we dropped to 2 feedings a day, so that was right before the 1 yr mark. It was a sad day. And now at 13 months we are still going, and I'm back to my regular flow, including hormones going haywire and skin freaking out!!!

My period came back at 10.5 months but wasn't normal until after I weaned.

16 months and no period yet. Though I've had ghost periods (cramps, bloating, etc.).
Twice - At 8 months and just a couple weeks ago I've gotten faint positive pregnancy tests that just disappear without spotting or anything so I'm not sure what's going on. I half way expected to get on the show didn't know I was pregnant. -
Mine came back at 15 months, normal except my cycles are a few days longer now (still bf'ing but only 1-2x/day).

Mine came back tragically at 5 months. I've not conceived in that time despite not avoiding, though, so I don't think I'm fully fertile.

Interesting. I breastfeed exclusively and plan to for at least two years (as long as that's what baby wants) and I got my period at three months post partum!

Are any bees on the mini-pill and got their period while EBF? I started the mini-pill around 4 months, got a period at 5 months while EBF, then I have not had one since (LO is now 8 months old). I'm not sure then if EBF or mini-pill is keeping period from returning. A couple of times I thought I was pregnant. =P

I weaned at 17 months and my period returned a little over a month later. It was a great extended break while it lasted.
