We never assumed we would share a bed with our baby, but within a couple of weeks we started and have never looked back. Both my husband and I just feel better being close to him, and it's helped breastfeeding too. We don't have a crib at this point, but our baby is 5 months old and some questions are popping up now:
-he doesn't roll onto his tummy yet, but what do we do when he does? Right now he rolls to his side, and I just constantly make sure his nose is clear.
-he's a very energetic sleeper, he whips back and forth and scoots-should he have his own sleep surface?
-our bed is a platform bed-the frame juts out a few inches from the edge of the mattress. Is there a sidecar style of crib out there that adjusts to platforms?
-how will we teach him to sleep farther away if we do decide on a sidecar? He's pretty used to nursing to sleep, and seems comforted by touch. On vacations, when we've put him in a pack & play, he hasn't stayed sleep for too long.
-anything else I should be thinking of as our baby gets bigger and older?
Thank you!
