Hello everyone,
I'm on my first round of clomid (100mg) taken on cd3-7. I've been using the clear blue advances digital ovulation test and have been testing positive since cd11. I tested positive at my doctor's office as well. We did an ultrasound and it showed I had 3 follicles which weren't mature yet. I've been having pain on my right side where the three follicles are. Has this happened to anyone else? I will return to the doctor's office on cd17.

@MsTeresa: you've been getting a smiley face since CD11, and had a surge detected at your REs office but have 3 immature follicles? That doesn't make sense.
What size are your follicles?
What CD are you now?

Did they test your LH level via bloodwork at the dr? Also, how big were the follicles? They can grow 2mm or so in a day. Clomid can cause false positives on OPKs, but only right after you finish taking it, I believe (it's been a while, over a year, since I took Clomid, so my memory's a little rusty
)

The Dr did a urine analysis. He said it was a false positive since the follicles were on 10mm. -

@MsTeresa: I think the instructions for the CB ovulation tests say not to use them if you're on fertility meds since your hormone levels will be enhanced. Also I think your dr should have done a blood test?

@MsTeresa: My RE told me to use OPK and if they were positive to call the office right away so I can be seen and to schedule my IUI. My follicles were always seen on the ultrasound so I never got a
on the OPKs.That's weird that you are getting positives but yet your RE says the follicles are small.

The information pamphlet for the cb does say that clomid may give misleading high fertility results but the peak results should be unaffected. I'm confused because I've been getting peak positives only. -

I was told the same thing but my doctor insists that my follicles are still too small and won't be the adequate size until cd17. I was told to keep using opks and writing the result down until my appointment. -
@MsTeresa: I saw an RE, too. I never had great luck with OPKs, either.
It's been a year since our last treatment, so I could be forgetting details. I think I took clomid CD3-8 (I took it for 6 days) then took an OPK CD12-15. I called when I had a positive surge OR called in CD15 to schedule next day blood work and ultrasound if I still hadn't had a surge.
The first time I got pregnant I didn't ovulate until CD17, and the second time I got pregnant I ovated on CD15.

@MsTeresa: Hmm. You might want to try an inexpensive nondigital OPK just to see if you get the same result. That way if both tests give you a positive then you know your hormones are triggering every test, although you won't know if that corresponds to mature follicles. If it's just the CB test then you know there's something wrong with that test.
ETA: The follicles can only grow so much each day and you may be feeling pain from having 30mm+ worth of follicle in your ovary?

Thank you! I hope I ovulate on cd17. This is the first time I take clomid so things are a bit overwhelming for me. We've been ttc for about two years but just recently decided to try an re. Really appreciate all the input. -

I will go and buy different opks and see if those come out positive as well. I did take one at the doctors office and it was positive.
That might be it. I was told I had three follicles on my right and one on my left so it makes sense that it's hurting for that reason. Thank you for the information. -
