February POAS!

    @MrsCB: ick that sucks!

Appointment update: I went to see my family doctor today. He got me to do a urine test at the surgery but said that given the circumstances (spotting, etc) he felt it was too soon to tell. He confirmed what Dr Google had told me - that a positive test means you are definitely pregnant, a negative test doesn't mean that you are definitely not. Basically it really isn't over til the fat lady (AF) sings.
He wants me to miss another period before he'll do bloods (argh, but he's awesome otherwise, so I'll take it). So count me as still in for Feb POAS - yeesh.

Ok ladies, last week was a BFN for me at 7/8DPO on valentines day. Today is 11DPO. AF is due on wednesday. I am really going to try to hold out if I can.

POAS yesterday morning for the heck of it and BFN. Currently on CD32, been using OPK for the past 10 days or so but never a clear obvious second line (lots of light lines and on occasion barely any). Last cycle was 40 days (first post-BC) so I might end up on the March thread based on that alone.

@SweetMamaM: such limbo! When would be the next missed period?
@Thehistoryofus: you can do it! Just two more days!
@LindsayInNYC: are you temping? Opks are tricky because they don't mean you ovulated. You could get a surge without the egg or some women never get a positive opk and they still ovulate. Last cycle I never got a true positive (could have been timing, who knows) and this time I didn't test over my fertile period because I was on a retreat for my students. I temp though, and my temps indicate ovulation both times.

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Mrs. J: I'm not temping. Not sure I want to this early in the TTC game (although I want a BFP sooner rather than later). Also, I get about 6 hours of sleep a night, wake up at either 5:30 or 6:30 during the week but much later on the weekend. So I wonder how accurate temping would be? We BD EOD up until last Wednesday (we've both been sick since) which would've covered an estimated fertile time based on my last 40 day cycle. I might have to start temping though...

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@LindsayInNYC: 6 hours of sleep is fine. You just have to pick a time to take it consistently. I set my phone alarm for 6 on weekends, take my temp, and go back to sleep. If you're in 15 minutes of your time, you'll be OK.

  7. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Mrs. J: Does it have to be within a 15 minute window? I wake up at 5:30 if I'm in the office but 6:30 on mornings where I go to Court. If I wake up earlier those days, I won't be able to go back to sleep!

  8. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

@LindsayInNYC: A half hour or more is too wide a discrepancy because your temp only goes up the later it gets.

I can *always* fall back asleep lol

Hey all, it's been a few days, but I'm still goin' strong on CD...55. Nice. Pulled out an OPK last night for the hell of it and got this, so who knows, maybe in the next few days I'll be O'ing? Not sure. I'm kind of at the point where I want to just back off completely until I get my period and I can start over fresh!

I'm gonna head back through now and read what I missed out on over the weekend!

ETA: Sideways again. Fail. Also, I know they aren't positive; I just reread my post and realized I made it sound like they were. I meant to say that maybe in the next few days they'll get to be positive and I'll be O'ing eventually... Sigh...Mondays...

@ms.janedoe: my 36 day cycle drove me bonkers... I can't imagine being on cd55. Yuck! Hope you O soon, pretty lady!!

I'm having some good signs! This is my first cycle off Nexplanon and I know that I did ovulate! We BDed a few times right around it. Yesterday morning there was a little bit of blood when I wiped and today I have a pressurey feeling down there. Both symptoms I had last time! I may be testing even earlier because I tested positive 24 hours after implantation bleeding with my first!

Congratulations to all the pregnant ladies

    @cram88: FX for you!!

@LindsayInNYC: temping is helpful, but if you can't wake at the same time daily it might not be worth it for you. Probably just about half of mine were valid (LOL) but it was nice to see a steady climb right after ovulation to help me know I did ovulate and thought I was preg. Since you have a few uncertainties with cycle length, and inability to temp, I would say the best thing would be to BD every other day! That can't hurt I forget- have you seen your OB about any of this? I put it off for MONTHS and when I did, they put me on Metformin (for my PCOS) and BAM, BFP literally less than a month later. Seemed like that was all my body needed. So it might not hurt to talk to your OB if you haven't already, there might be small changes you can make based on your own body? You KNOW I am keeping my FX for you!!!!

  17. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@KJfromNJ: I haven't seen my doctor yet since I just went off BC in December so I think it's too soon still. We BD roughly every other day from CD 12 through 27 (some days there were 2 off days in between) - 7 times over those 15 days. We haven't since this past Wednesday though (CD27) since I was sick and now DH is sick.

@LindsayInNYC: are you anywhere near being due for your annual? That's what I went for, and mentioned trying. I hadn't been in about a year and a half (UGH! MOVING!) so we discussed just general health stuff and then a little about TTC. GEneral PCOS health wise I should be on Metformin, so she prescribed it. She also recommended certain OPK's and ways to track- and then said to come back in 3 cycles if I wasn't preg- which at THAT point we'd discuss Clomid, etc. It was almost a pre-TTC exam. Might be worth it if you're due for an annual soon! Or at least to figure out why your cycles aren't back to "normal,"... mine took about a month or two I think off BC but then I got so regular I could time a clock to it- which is not typical of PCOS but I'm happy about

  19. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@KJfromNJ: No, my annual is in August. This is my second cycle off BC. I was normal pre-BC (granted 12 years ago but normal in my teens still!) and even broke through spotted/bled during BC if I took it for too long. So I was kinda surprised it didn't go right back to normal. If I did O this cycle, it might still be too early to POAS though. Funny, I checked out your TWW symptoms since I remember you thought you were sick... I wasn't feel well Friday and this weekend, had #2 more than usual today... Still think I'm too early to really tell though.

@LindsayInNYC: OOO Well that's good! I will keep my FX. It's hard with an irregular cycle but you can't deny signs! I hope your cycle gets back to (teenage! haha) normal very soon if you're not KU already. FYI I took 2 negative preg tests before my BFP so keep that in mind too!

@Mrs. J: 8th of March! The only way I can stop myself going nutty is by telling myself that if for some reason I'm one of these people that only shows in blood tests then at least I'll only have to keep it a secret for a month. People not testing positive til six weeks is actually way more common than I thought though

Ok, I ran in and peed really quickly this morning so I can wait until tomorrow to test. I'm so excited to see because I am hoping our timing was good this month.

@SweetMamaM: Totally just curious (as I'm at...CD56 and lacking some good reading material!)...you mention that some people don't test positive on a HPT/don't test positive until 6 weeks? Did you find anything that explains it?

Man, I give you credit for holdin' out, lady! You can do it! Oh, you too @Thehistoryofus: !!! Excited to see what happens tomorrow!

@Thehistoryofus: You peed early so you weren't tempted to test? That's exactly what I did this morning. I tested CD9 & 10, and BFN ... I told myself I'd skip today & try again tomorrow. It's so tempting. GOOD LUCK!!

OK, question. I know this is more of a "pee on a "pregnancy" stick" thread, but whatever. Here's my OPK from a few minutes ago (holy awkward thing to do at work). My question is, the control line has come up a lot lighter than it has in the past (tests from the past few days are up higher in this thread)...what gives? Diluted urine isn't a factor in this case, either, which makes me more confused. Thoughts?

@ms.janedoe: Tests have different amount of dye in them, so just compare the test to the control and don't worry about how dark the control is. peeonastick.com has really good FAQs about this kind of thing. That's why she says not to worry if your test lines aren't getting darker after a BFP, the tests are all different from each other.

CD 47 for me, temps confirmed I have indeed O'd (although I'm not 100% when since I missed 3 days the weekend of the 9th...). I'm going to POAS Saturday the 23rd if AF doesn't show by then.

  31. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@ms.janedoe: argh, now that I am looking for it, of course I can't find it. The gist was that 10% of women don't implant until around the date of their missed period, so the hcg has not built up in their system enough to start shedding in their urine. It will also not show up in an HPT if there is any bacteria in the urine (UTI or other) and some women produce a hook that means it never shows up in a urine test. Crazy, right? Bloods and ultrasounds are the only way to get definitive answers.

I'm taking from the whole experience that it's God's way of telling me I need to be more laid back about things LOL. Either it's not been our month or it has been, and if it's the latter, well we'll just have less of the 1st trimester to stress about.

@ms.janedoe: Did you read that POAS website about what happens if only "part" of your control line is dark? I question if you stick above (on the right) almost isn't a positive. I think its clear to see the one today probably isn't positive.

@Ash @ms.janedoe: Way to complicate things OPKs! (Yes, I'm directing my frustrating at/to a strip, LOL). I've been using OPKs and have been getting a dark-ish 2nd line for quite some time. It's never been as dark as or darker than the control line though. Only a couple times has there not been a 2nd line. I POAS on Sunday and BFN. Ugh.
