Do you give LO a paci? Stroke their head/cheek? Talk or sing to them?
Do you just leave after a minute, even if LO hasn't settled down yet?

We only talk to him, no touching. We tell him we love him, that it is time to sleep, and that tomorrow is going to be another fun day. We stay about 30 seconds whether he has calmed down or not. It is really hard.
