Has anyone posted about this yet? I think it sounds really good! And the bit about helping to fund fertility treatments is really exciting to hear about, if it really helps people!

Yes this was posted a while ago. It sounds nice. Earlier I heard they were actually going to fund treatments. If that is still the case, I am skeptical.

I've had a chance to think about it after the previous thread and wonder if the group of users will be skewed towards couples who have reason to suspect they will have fertility issues, because who else would be motivated to put money towards possible treatments? I would have done it, but only because we knew when we started that there was a medical cause for our MFI.

@spaniellove: Good point. I don't think I would've done it in the beginning. I don't tend to spend money on things I think are unnecessary, and I have a family history of this thing being easy

@spaniellove: I was talking to DH about it last night and he said the exact same thing that you did. If that is what happens (and I suspect that it might be) that would kind of screw up the system. There would be more people getting money for treatment than not, I would think.

@spaniellove: Agreed. As much as I'd like to, we would never spend that much money on something like this unless we had strong reason to expect a problem. If we won the lottery or something, hell yeah I'd do it. I'd love to have the advanced app, and to know the money was going to help others would make it totally worth the ridiculous price. But we don't have that kind of money sitting around.

@LizSmith: Those guys are smart but I'm thinking they got their hook wrong here - $50/month is a lot! People are altruistic but when they have to weigh the likelihood that they'll donate it or need it for infertility, I'm not sure how many people think they could donate $50/month to another couple.

@spaniellove: Yep. I *might* for 30/month, and there's a good chance I would for 20. You have to balance that versus having too many people for the amount, but since I have no reason to suspect fertility issues, I would be doing it for altruistic reasons (mostly, also partly to cover my ass if things went badly). I don't think I'd be the only one either.
