@FannyMae: It was like a murder happened in my pants. I thought I was hemmoraging. The only thing that could stem the flow were super overnight maxi pads (not the ultra thins, the big guns). Thankfully, every period after that one was normal.

Weirdly mine was quite light. I had cramping two weeks beforehand though that I hadn't experienced before. My third pp one has been the heaviest, but was also nothing crazy. I was expecting mayhem for the first one since it had been 9 months. I didn't know hormones while breastfeeding could make it lighter.

I got my first PP period while exclusively BF'ing. I got it at abuot 7 mos PP. It was a normal period.. but I was certainly not happy to get it and was shocked it returned so fast as I'd heard it wouldn't until I was done bf'ing

@fannymae I just got my first PP period a few weeks ago. DS is 12 months and EBF the whole time. It was very light, only lasted like 3 days.

... that being said, I had light periods before I got pregnant and had fertility issues which may have been causing it, so IDK if it's normal.

Mine came back around six months (womp womp), right after I transitioned from nursing to exclusively pumping. No idea if it was correlated, but it may have been! I definitely spotted a bit, and then, well, it was a HEAVY first period, FYI.

Got mine at 6 or 8 weeks with DD1, 3 months with DD2, both EBF. They are more mild than they were before kids.

I got mine at 7.5mo pp. It wasn't terrible. It was lighter than I thought it would be. They got heavier after that for awhile (I would say a good 8-10 cycles) and then lightened back up a little bit. haha. FWIW, I don't believe I ovulated before my first period or the the first cycle after that. So maybe that is why it was lighter.

My first one came around 11.5 months (right as I started pump weaning during the day at work) and was pretty light. The next few cycles were super long (like 40+ days) to the point where my doctor wanted to test my thyroid. Those were pretty light too. I think it took close to 6 months for them to become more normal.

You're lucky you went to long! Mine came back at 6m and 4m pp, but it was pretty normal.

I haven't gotten mine back yet. I'm scared of how bad it's going to be! I had terrible periods pre pregnancy.

Curious about this myself. I'm 15 months pp (& still bf about 4x per day) and just went off the mini pill 2 days ago. I spotted for more than a week last month, so I felt like it was coming back then, but that was it. Expecting a real AF now after stopping the pill, but not looking forward to it. My periods before LO were very light, but it's been so long, I at least think this 1st one pp could be really heavy.

mine came back just shy of 4 months. The first one was pretty crazy. It also hurt my pumping supply and I needed to nurse more often. Making sure I was drinking and eating lots was also helpful.

Be gentile with yourself. It's a lot to have AF and nurse.
