I just got DD her first sippy cup! I got the Zoli and Playtex based on all the recommendations here. This might be a silly question but did you sterilize it with boiling water before giving it to your LO?? I washed it with soapy water but I thought the straw tasted funny/rubbery. I hope DD figures out how to use it! Did your LO figure it out right away?

It took M a long time to figure hers (a zoli) out. We gave it to her starting around 6 months and she would suck the water up, be shocked by it and spit it out. We would praise her like crazy when she drank and she would grin and let it all run down her chest. It was so cute. It took her several months to really drink out of it regularly. We kept offering it with her meals and while she was playing and she figured it out gradually.
ETA: I think I ran the whole thing through the dishwasher the first time but I'm sure it's fine.

We got the playtex one about 2 weeks ago. I have not been consistant in giving it to LO everyday, so she hasnt figured it out 100%. She sucks on the straw and is suprised everytime she gets water. She really enjoys drinking out of my glass, too cute. She is 6 months

I just washed it with soap and water. It took my LO a few days to really get the hang of it!

@mrsf: @pinkb: @autumnlove: Thanks ladies!! I'll just keep offering it to her and see what she does. She's not a fan of water though so it might take her awhile! The Playtex one seems easier to suck water up so I will try that one first. DD is 6.5 months.
