DS just turned one year at the beginning of the month and up until then I breastfeed him when we were together and he had some formula, some breastmilk at daycare. We've transitioned him to WCM, but still have an almost full container of formula in the pantry. I don't want to throw it out and waste it, but am not sure if it's still okay to be giving him formula until the container runs out. Any ideas/experiences to share?

DH and I were just talking about this. Do we keep giving her formula at night when she wakes and wants food? Surely not ice cold milk, right? I figure if women breastfeed their kids at night past age 1, then there's no reason formula isn't an acceptable snack, then, either.
Plus we aren't going cold turkey to milk right at 12 months, it's going to be a process

I'm sure giving formula for another month or so is fine. I would finish out the container.

DS is 13 months and we are still using up the last of our formula! We have been mixing it with WCM because he hasn't gotten used to the taste of WCM yet. Plus, if I'm going to throw out the rest of our formula I might as well just be throwing $$ in the trash, lol.

Most people stop formula at one just because they don't *have* to feed it to them anymore, and it's so expensive. But you certainly can give what you have left to him...it's still good for him.

Absolutely - our pediatrician encouraged it. No sense in wasting the formula - it won't hurt.

If you don't want to waste it, but you don't want to use it, you could donate it. That's what we did with the free samples we received and all the leftover pre-made formula.
