I have heard and read differing opinions about how often a couple should have sex during the fertile window when TTC. Some say every day is fine if there is no known problem with sperm count, others say every other day to avoid getting worn out....I'd love to hear what you have heard from a medical professional and their explanation regarding how often to have sex.

I think it also depends on how long your fertile window is. If you only have 3 days, I would say do it every day, but if you have longer then every other day would be fine.

my reproductive endocrinologist said every day, but we were all fine and healthy. i just wasn't ovulating normally at the time and was on clomid.

We DTD every other day the month we got our BFP. I found that trying to do it every single day during the fertile week was a bit exhausting and turned it into more of a chore. To each their own though!!!

We were told every other day. Even for a guy who has a high sperm count BDing ever day can lower the sperm count each day. The body just isn't able to keep up with supply & demand of every day use.

We did it every day for about 5 days - 2 before I thought I would ovulate and 3 after I got a positive OPK. Then if we felt like it we might do every other day for a few more days. Then we took a break, lol.

We did it every other day the month we got a BFP. I had been going for every day the month before, but I saw the midwife for my regular annual and she said every other was fine and that we'd get worn out otherwise, which is true.

We were trying to do it every other day, but I got really paranoid that I'd miss it, so we did it every day for five days. Three days before, day of, and day after O.

My OB said every other day. We tried every day the first couple months, but it was super tiring and I hadn't even O'd yet!! The month we got our BFP was when we did it every other day. And there were times when we'd go 48 hours before BD again!

We did it the days I got a smiley on my CBE thingy, so two in a row, but the frequency leading up to and after were our usual.

We only BD'd 3 times the week I supposedly got pregnant.
I never got a positive on my digital OPK so not knowing the 'ideal' time helped us relax and have fun and it worked. -
We did every day for 8 days in a row and we got a baby that month

Normally, we did EOD, but the month that we got the BFP it was 2 days before O and the day after O. Go figure.

Ha! I am not charting anything other than my periods, so we DTD every single day up until AF and then every single day afterwards. I should probably start charting but DH doesn't seem to mind lol!

we did every other day, which is good because i O'd 2 weeks later than i thought i would. it was getting REALLY old after that long! i probably would have given up if we were doing it every day.

every other day. it was exhausting and not easy to fit into our schedules. Every day would have been a huuuge chore. We got to the point where we were both like, "thank goodness tonight's not a sex night. I want to watch tv"

Mine suggested every other, but at first we went every day or twice. I got pregnant on a round where we'd calmed down to every other or so - which I highly recommend. There are so fantastically many sperm in each shot that I really don't believe doing it over and over and over really increases your chances all that much.

@lawbee11: I have about 3 or 4 day periods, so every other day, give or take a couple we DTD, but now I see we are only supposed to everyday during my ovulation time, which I have no idea when it is lol! Que embarrassed face.

We tried to DTD every day during the 4-5 days of the window period. Definitely both the day I got a positive OPK and the next day.

We did two days of sex, one day off, repeat. We got pregnant on the first try twice.

My doctor surprised me when she recommended every other day for sperm reasons. A nurse friend of mine said every other day as well to keep the vagina happy (her words, and it made me laugh).
I think we'll stick to every other day just to keep a relaxed feeling. Part of me wants to go for it every day so we don't miss our chance, but I think that would make me feel anxious and take away the fun aspect of it.....although my husband would have no complaints!

Yep, did every other day during fertile week, then each day for the two days I had EWCM.

@Happygal: Ha. Our midwife said the same thing about keeping the vagina happy, haha. She recommended every other day. My GYN said every other day or two days on, one day off during my O week.
