Any second time moms have issues with over supply? I guess I'm not even sure this is even an oversupply issue, maybe I'm just not managing it well enough...
The nurses kept saying how much colostrum I had (pumped that once in the hospital to rest a cracked nipple) and then my milk came in abundantly on Monday morning...
Today, I nursed on the left and she was done, but the other side was so painful that I ended up breaking out the manual pump (still waiting on our electric pump, should be here by Friday). Pumped the right for 20 mins and got about 2 ounces. Stupidly, I had my DH feed M the bottle I pumped at the next feeding, then nursed for about 10 minutes on the left. M should be awake shortly and I'm planning to nurse on the right. But both sides are pretty full already.
Given that she's nursing for about 20 minutes every 3 hours, I'm not sure how to manage it? Should I pump on the opposite side she feeds on after every feed? Should I try to nurse her 10 minutes on each side? I'm planning on freezing a fairly large supply so that my DH can do breast milk when he's on paternity leave starting in January and for evenings out and such. But I don't want things to get out of control and have to be constantly pumping. Any advice?
