Is it really necessary to have this for introducing solids? I know it can be quite messy

I plan to especially since our LOs would be starting solids in cold weather so we can't really do the naked thing. I am kicking myself for not asking my friend to pick the Ikea ones up though! So much cheaper.

We have been doing oatmeal the past few weeks and I wish I had one of these! Luckily the weather is still warm so we can just strip him down to his diaper for now. We have a ton of regular bibs but when we use them he just chews on the bib instead of eating. I will be getting one of theses when the weather cools down.

I think it just depends on your lo. My lo is a pretty neat eater so we don't need one. Depending on what she's eating sometimes I don't even put a bib on her at all.

Those Ikea bibs were awesome when we ate out, especially when wearing long-sleeves. It really help keep the mess from staining my son's clothes. The only downside to it is that it's not waterproof but does its job. Would totally recommend getting them for when you eat out. Can't beat the price. Bumkins also makes bibs like this but are waterproof and with lots of cute designs.

@erwoo: ah, so that's why they are so cheap bc they're not waterproof! Never mind then...

@artbee: really? wow my LO drools everywhere, she needs a bib all the time

@Mrsbells: my lo is a drooler too, but we just let it happen. She wont wear a bib full time, she takes it off. But with eating she's very focused on getting all of the food in her mouth so its really not an issue for us. Of course some foods are messier than others, but she never gets it on her clothes.

LO is still tiny, but I made sure to buy a pack even before she was born. For $5 for 2, you can't go wrong! I figured she can use them for cafts even if she doesn't eat with them.
