First successful IUI, boy. Second successful IUI, boy. I'm wondering how many girls are the result of an IUI...I think there was a similar thread like this a few years ago...

@sweetooth: Interesting. DH is convinced they lead to girls because the sperm have a shorter distance to swim. I think it's still a 50-50 shot!

I heard they lead to boys because the cycle timing makes it such that the girl swimmers (slow swimmers) have already lost the battle when the speedy boy swimmer get direct access to the egg. No chance for the girls!
ETA: I googled and found this bit...
"You are more likely to have a boy if you have sex only once during your fertile period and a girl if you have sex more often.
True
This is based on the fact that female sperm live longer and swim slower than male sperm. If you have sex a few days before you ovulate the longer living and slower female sperm will be waiting for the egg. If you have sex just before ovulation the faster pushier male sperm will win the race. Whatever you do remember that really there is a 50:50 chance of having either a boy or a girl. Focusing on having a healthy baby is more important than its gender."

First pregnancy after first IUI = 23 wks with a boy! Confirmed by multiple ultrasounds and MaterniT21.

First IUI: Boy
Second IUI: Girl
I think (just my opinion) it has more to do with timing of ovulation and the IUI than how far the sperm have to go. I know for a fact that I ovulated after my IUI when my daughter was conceived, which gave more time for the girl sperm to get to where the egg would be than had if I had ovulated before the IUI. If that makes sense, haha!

Not personal experience but my friend is currently pregnant with twin boys from an IUI

@LindsayInNY: Haha I think the opposite - in my anecdotal evidence (myself included) I think IUI leads to boys because the timing is RIGHT AT ovulation and boy sperm swims quicker.

I've both of my pregnancies were the result of IUI. I have a daughter and I'm pregnant with another girl.

Boy sperm doesn't actually swim faster. That theory has been disproven, there were flaws in that study and they figured out what actually accounted for the speed difference - I don't remember what it was, but it wasn't anything you can control and it wasn't gender. I googled and here's a link going over the basics :

I had an iui and had a boy. I've heard fertility doctors say it's really a 50/50 shot but I'm not sure I agree.
