LO is EBF and I haven't been very good about giving him a bottle just so he would accept them. Now he's 13 weeks and he's only taken a bottle twice - both times over a month ago. When I tried again this week, he refused to have anything to do with it. Any tips on how to get him to take an occasional bottle? So far I've tried two different kinds of bottles (Medela and Dr. Brown's)..

My lo referred a wider nipple. We have had great success with tommy tippee and playtex ventaire wide ! It may be the nipple shape throwing him off

I use Avent Natural nipples for LO. She seems to take a bottle easier from DH or MIL. When I try to give her one, she purses her lips or spits it out! Maybe you could have someone else try the bottle while you're in a different room or out of LOs eyeline?

You're not alone. I worked on getting LO to take a bottle for weeks before she started daycare. My LO was a fighter and went more than 8 hours without eating on multiple occasions. I can't say that I know the solution since I never got her to take it and she had to figure it out at daycare but I have a few tips.
Don't put much BM in the bottle until LO accepts it. I wasted so much milk always offering a full bottle each time.
If LO has taken a bottle before don't run out and buy every bottle on the market. My LO ended up back where we started with the standard Medela bottles.
My LO eventually learned to take a bottle sitting in someone else's lap facing away from them. The milk had to be extra hot (but not burning hot). I hope LO drinks soon!

Ditto what @scg00387: said. We also use the Calma nipple so he has to work for it, similarly to the breast.

Tommee was the only ones that R would take. We tried a bunch.

Someone else needs to give the bottle and mommy needs to be out of the room. Wait til LO is hungry, and squeeze out a little milk first so LO realizes bottle = eat!
My LO likes the Medela bottles, but we never tried any others. -
@scg00387: I was going to say the same thing. Our prenatal class suggested you have DH give the bottle while you go out for a while. So take a walk or go get groceries and see if that works. If you're around and LO can see or smell you, he will prefer to just BF!

Try the Comotomo bottles. They worked well for us.

Mrs. Jacks post on the issue was really helpful! In my case, nothing worked and DD never took a bottle but she eventually drank her milk out of a sippy cup instead so it all worked out.

@mrsbookworm: I found that if my son could see me, he just wanted the boob! I put him in his car seat on our kitchen island and stood behind the carrier. I then gave him the bottle by moving my arm around the seat. He took it then. It was bizarre but it worked.

@mrsbookworm: also most important tip for me was to remember that she wouldn't starve. That she would find sustenance one way or the other.
