I have a girlfriend who is in the hospital right now about to give birth to her first baby. She wants me to come visit once she gets home. She is staying with her SO's family for a while before they go back to NY..so, typically you can take new moms meals or help dp chores, but she's going to have her MIL to do that. What can I take her that would be a good gift for her? I already have something for her LO

I love giving a new mom a really nice set of nursing pj's. You spend so much time in your pj's in those early weeks, and it's nice to have something that makes you feel special as opposed to a gift for the baby. Every mom I've given this to has loved it.

Someone just bought me a really nice bar of chocolate bath oil. So excited about using it! Anything that can add to her comfort or make her feel good about herself would be great.

FOOD! I loved when friend brought take-out, it was nice to have a restaurant meal even though I was stuck indoors.
A nice wrap sweater or pair of yoga pants would be nice, too. That's what I lived in for weeks. -

Obviously I'm not a mama... I wouldn't have thought to get comfy pjs but such a good idea! I took my friend a Starbucks gift card and a pumpkin scone.... her favorite!!

@MrsTiz: yep! nice pj's are the best, and if they're not marketed as 'nursing' pj's they are way less expensive

I agree with others! PJs and food! Even if her mil is going to be there - food is still nice, a meal she can heat up later when they have less help? maybe some muffins or cookies? In the early weeks easy to grab food is good.
I just brought my friend a breakfast casserole to easily heat up since both her mom and mil where there and I know they all loved it! My sister brought me choc chip pumpkin muffins she made and it was sooo great to have!

I know I'd have loved cute lounge clothes- I don't really wear pjs and just do tshirts and yoga pants so a soft robe or hoodie would've been a perfect gift for me!
