Has anybody used these? Im trying to go plastic free for anything that will be heated, so i think we may want to go this route for baby 2. It does make me a bit nervous though, especially for middle of the night handling. How easily do they break?

I heard really good things from a friend who used them with her LO. She felt like they heated more quickly, were easier to clean, and she felt good about eliminating plastic from that piece of the feeding equation. I think she switched to something else once her LO decided she could hold her own bottle, for fear her LO might drop it/throw it, but I don't recall what she switched to.

We had the Dr. Browns glass bottles and loved them! They were dropped and never broke. Life factory makes them too with the silicone cover so that they don't break either. There was only one of my Dr. Brown's bottles that broke and it was when a 3-year old picked it up and chucked it at a brick fireplace... sooo yeah.

we used lifefactory bottles. we only had one break and that was because it fell out of the cabinet on the top edge. never broke while using them with LO.

I loved them when working with a family who used them. I dropped one once without issue, they are really thick and I think it would be hard to break them.

We've been using lifefactory bottles since the beginning and she is almost 13 months old. We've never broken one and quite a few have been dropped. The one downside is she was a little older before she could hold it herself as compared to a plastic bottle because they are heavier. I definitely recommend them though.

Oh awesome! I love our avent natural bottles, and they sell glass ones which are compatible with the nipples we already have, so i think im going to go that route. I found some silicone sleeves for them too on amazon. Glad to know the glass doesnt break easily! Now to convince dh

We use the glass Avent bottles and like them a lot. They don't have silicone covers, though, so I'd probably try the Lifefactory ones if I was in the market for new ones -- but mainly because the glass gets really hot when you warm the bottles. Also, you can get lids to turn the Lifefactory ones into sippy cups later on. No issues with breakage in the 8+ months we've been using the Avents, though, and it's a special type of glass that isn't supposed to shatter even if it does break.

yup! the LOs I nannied used the glass evenflo. They never had any issues. I wasn't there for the MOTN, but during the day I would either mix with powder as needed, or in the morning open one of the premade cans and fill as many as it would fill. Then they'd go in the fridge for the day.
When I had to use one, I would put the bottle in a cup of hot water. Take out, swirl, and test - repeat if needed!

We used the glass Dr Browns and Evenflo. Loved both. Only had a couple break. I wanted to get the rubber cover thingies but never did.

We use Evenflo glass bottles and are almost done with them for our second. They've been great, the only one we had break was when my DH was getting it out of the cabinet and it fell a couple of feet onto the stone countertop. We used the rubber cover things for the first baby (they came with the bottles) but never bothered with them this time. Good for you for reducing plastic. We love that the glass stays clean, doesn't get residue on it the way many plastic bottles/cups seem to after many uses and washes.

We use glass Dr Browns. Love them! M started daycare at ten months and they have a no glass policy so I bought plastic and hate them!

We used joovy boob bottles in glass. No trouble with breakage but we did have issues with leakage at the cap. Don't think that was because of glass just the bottle design.

@ladybee: Have you tried stainless steel? They are a great alternative to plastic and glass.

@Apex: I love our Pura stainless steel bottles! And then I use evenflo glass bottles for pumping and milk storage. I was able to find the evenflo ones super cheap on Walmart.com

Very interested in all the responses! I didn't use glad bottles for DS because I got a little overwhelmed picking one, but it sounds like a great idea! My mom used glass bottles with both of us kids, and I don't think she had any break...

We far still using plastic for pumping into and for freezer storage (bags). We will use life factory for heating at daycare.

We use Born Free glass bottles and love them. If you buy them in a set they come with a silicone sleeve which is good if you're worried about breakage. We haven't had an issue so far! I have to use the Medela plastic bottles for pumping into and I really dislike them. I feel like you can get the glass so much cleaner!

I checked and both my me del a storage bottles and my Avent natural bottles are plastic #5 so I'm not going to toss them, but I am definitely going to try to use glass mostly. I really like the wider bottles so I don't think I can pump directly into them. Is there a glass option that can be pumped directly into?

@Mrs. Lion: the life factory and probably the dr brown should both fit but the glass is heavy. Not really easy to pump into.

@Mrs. Lion: depends on the pump but I can pump directly into the evenflo ones with my Medela pump.
