What would be a good gift for a kindergarten teacher? Thank you!!
What would be a good gift for a kindergarten teacher? Thank you!!

We picked up a copy of "Miss Maple's Seeds" by Eliza Wheeler for DD's kindergarten teacher, which we will give with handwritten cards - one from parents and one from DD. We will also either give an amazon gift card or chip in to a class gift (if one is happening.)
I also emailed our principals, superintendent, and director of learning to praise our teacher. She did such an incredible job this year and I want to make sure her superiors hear that. It's not necessarily a gift but so many parents only reach out with complaints or concerns - I like to reach out and share the positives when I can!

Oh man, how did I miss that end of year gifts are a thing? Is this something we need to do for preschool too?!

When in doubt I think gift cards are the best way to go. We contributed to a class gift for an Amazon card and are writing him a thank you card.

@JJ2626: I know, it's a lot ..but I'd say yes, especially this year ... Between 17 families, my son's (outdoor Pre-K) teachers got $340 each . It's been a very, very, very hard year for us teachers.

I think that itās nice to do and we have and will again this year. We are going the gift card route. But I think if itās not in your budget then donāt stress about doing it. I would think even a nice message in a card would be appreciated.

@JJ2626: We've always done gifts at any major changes (like, changing age-group rooms at daycare, etc), so if your kids are finishing preschool and moving on to new teachers I would do a gift, yes.
My mom was a teacher and she got SO MUCH CRAP at the end of every year - so many "World's Best Teacher" mugs, one time a clock with portrait of Jesus on it, etc - so to avoid that, I always do gift cards - Starbucks, Chapters, one year I did Shopper's Drug Mart. Given how this year has gone, I'm thinking maybe the LCBO.

As a teacher, I just got a very nice letter from a parent that they also sent to my principal for my file. It meant the world to me! Gift cards are also a delight. Please... no mugs.

@pachamama: @erinbaderin: thanks for this perspective! Itās just 2 teachers (one is the owner) and a very small outdoor school that sheāll be staying at next year. That said, weāve really felt lucky to have them and Iād like to acknowledge them. I was hoping another parent would email about a group gift but so far no luck! Ha. Weāll do a note and gift card I think.
