So I ordered a hand pump to help with engorgment and it was supposed to come in on Monday. I ended up having trouble yesterday and we purchased a medela pump in style. Now my hand pump came in. Should I keep it or do I really need it now that I have the really great pump? It does have a battery option so in case of a power outage I could still use it.

I have the same electric pump and still use my manual all the time when I am engorged and I just want to be quick. Plus its small and easy to take with you for short days away from the baby. I vote keep it.

The handpump was nice to have in emergency situations! I'd say keep it if it wasn't too pricey.

I'd keep it. I have one that I leave in my desk at work and it's been a lifesaver on the occasions when I forgot my electric. Also good for times when I just need to pump a little extra or if I'm going to be away and just want something easier to bring along than a big tote bag.

What hand pump do you all use and like? Sounds like a good thing to have next to the bed for the rate nights C STTN. My medela double electric came with a piston style one but it looks really annoying to use- haven't tried yet.

Definitely keep. I ended up liking my manual way more than my electric.
It was just way easier to use. -

I had a free hand pump (ameda) from the hospital, that i also kept in the diaper bag. mainly because I had such oversupply that in the earlier months I had to pump for a bit before I could nurse her, because she'd choke during letdown. ugh. but after that I never used it - my hand would cramp. LOL.

I have a Medela Harmony and lovelovelove it! I use it far more often than my double electric
