In your experience, was a hands free nursing bra like the Medela bra necessary when pumping? Or could you just use a regular nursing bra and close it?

I just shove my flanges down into whatever bra I have. I never wear a pumping bra anymore.

I would say that the Simple Wishes hands-free bra is SO worth it! I pumped without it for like, three months, and I greatly prefer pumping now that I have it.

@ladybee: so many times I wished I would've bought one!!! I definitely will the second time around.

@ladybee: my pumping bra is invaluable to me. My pump doesn't work put into other bras--- I tried and could never get a tight enough seal on the flanges to my boobs, so I would always end up having to hold the, in p,ace anyway, which defeats the purpose.
But I exclusively pump and have a Freestyle, so I frequently cook dinner, entertain my baby, put in makeup, etc while pumping.

@heartonastring: you made it three months!? That's great--- I made it 3 days before I decided that I needed my hands to take care nor my baby for those 20-24 min intervals a million times a day. It was so freeing!!! Thank you amazon overnight shipping.

Definitely! I exclusively pumped from 6 wks - 4.5 months and had simple wishes hands free that I used constantly.

So worth it! I don't want to hold any flanges! I have two Simple Wishes bras that I love.

The pumping bras that zip in the front are SO worth it!! I could never get a good fit by shoving them into my nursing bra. I would unclip the bra cups, zip the pumping bra over, and go.
I would be too afraid I'd knock the things out of my nursing bra- I used to pump while blow drying my hair in the morning!

My simple wishes bra is SO worth it! Especially if you're going back to work and will be pumping at work. For occasional pumping, it's not necessary.

The Simple Wishes hands free pumping bra is so completely worry every penny. I'd never be able to do anything if I had to hold the flanges myself all of the time.

I have the simple wishes and have only used it 2-3 times - Like @grizz, I prefer just to tuck the flanges into my regular bra and sit at the computer.
I should resell mine - if you are anyone else is interested, let me know!

I had the simple wishes. I only pumped once a day. It wa not worth it to me. I used it a few times and realized I woul rather not hassle with the extra time it took to put it on. I suspect there are variables like where, when and how often that will make a difference on whether or not it is worth it.

I never got one, but I only pumped 4 months total (2 months each kid).

I plan on exclusively pumping so it sounds like it would be worth my time to pick one up. I have the PISA which isn't hands free but I do like the idea of blow drying my hair while pumping when I go back to work.

SOOOO worth it!! I pumped exclusively for the first 3 months, and it was so much more convenient. In my book, it was a MUST!

I'm a WOHM so I pump at LEAST three times a day. Having a hands-free pumping bra is INVALUABLE! I have the Simple Wishes one (like everyone, haha) and I LOVE it.

I can't imagine life without one (I had 3). There is no way a regular pumping bra would have worked for me.

Yes I thought it was so worth it. I held the flanges for about a month before getting one and was so happy I got one!

@ladybee: I feel like a hands free bra is an absolute must have for an exclusive pumper.. It makes my pumping time so much easier and productive. Also, there have been so many times where I had to pick up DD, or walk over to get something and its nice to just disconnect the tube for a few seconds instead of taking it all off..

at first I didn't feel like it was worth it. I pumped when DS was sleeping and hello its easier to hold it instead of fiddling with a bra. Now that he is older it is so worth it. I only pump 3x times a week but I have to entertain him while pumping so it is handy to have hands free to pick up toys for him or play with him.

Yes! I noticed that when I didn't use my hands free bra I would slouch a lot more to get a better seal with the flanges.

Worth every penny! I never got great suction when I used a regular bra. I'm all about short cuts, but that one never worked for me. Plus I always dripped milk all over my pumping bra when taking the flanges off, I wouldn't want my regular bras to get wet or messy.
