We gave DS some OJ last week while we were on vacation. He loved it! It was a special treat since we were away from home. It was the first time he's had something aside from bmilk/milk/water!

Yes, she had it a couple times at daycare when there were subs. She has had it in smoothies but that's really it. She LOVES smoothies which, to me, are just like fancy, icy juice.

She's had a little oj but didn't care for it. She had some of my Gatorade last week and loved it though.

Nooo. I want to keep her thinking that the only liquids in the world are milk, water, and broth. It's easier that way.

We gave her some at 12 M when she wasn't drinking anything, so she wouldn't get hydrated. But she wasn't a huge fan. Had a couple sips at a bday party, think it was apple, but again not a fan.
@blackbird: R always wants to drink mine, but I didn't know it she could have it. I will let her try it next time.

Yes, occasionally at bday parties and a few times for constipation.

Only apple juice once, when on an airplane. She's had prune juice a few times for constipation.

she's had some applejuice when at grandmom's house and also when she's been sick or at parties. She loves it but she still asks for water or milk on a regular basis.
eggplant / 11716 posts
nope. I tried to give her Pedialyte the last time she was sick and not eating (that's kind of like juice) and she didn't like it.

LO drinks either whole cow's milk or water with a splash of apple juice. I let him try regular juice once and he was not a fan. I want to get him to like smoothies, but so far, he has once sip and he's good.

We started around 14 months when she was dealing with constipation, but she doesn't get it on a regular basis. Special occasions, parties, grandma's house, ect. She rarely asks for it, she usually wants milk.

@Smurfette: eh it's not that great for them but it's not like a few sips will hurt. She just has to have what I'm having and for once, it's not water! I try not to drink it in front of her but it's my go-to when I'm not feeling good
grapefruit / 4582 posts
Yup. She gets prune juice pretty frequently for constipation and OJ sometimes in the morning I'm not really strict on juice or anything else, we just try and eat/drink in moderation.

She occasionally gets some very watered down juice for constipation, but I don't keep it in the house usually.

Not at home (I did put a splash of grape juice in her water once to try and get her to drink it, but no dice). She may have had some at daycare.

we don't buy it for home but they get it at every party and at school. they love it of course!

Only once at a birthday party so far. She drank it but she didn't go nuts for it. She always wants water! My dad gave her chocolate milk last weekend and she refused it and asked for water lol. I'm sure that won't last forever!

D1 is three and drinks juice regularly. She had diluted juice up until she was 2 years old. From 2 until now, she drink undiluted stuff.
honeydew / 7303 posts
Yep! We got some for her second birthday party as a treat. She hasn't had any since. It's just for special occasions.

He's had Pedialite a couple times which I advertised as "strawberry juice" (it was the strawberry flavor). He loved it, which was great because I was trying to get fluids in him, but now he sometimes asks for "stawbaby juice" and is disappointed when I tell him that only milk and water are on offer.
nectarine / 2878 posts
He has tried it several times, but still prefers water and milk. He would never turn down chocolate milk though

yes! she had prune juice cut with water relatively often after starting solids, she had trouble adjusting.
as a toddler, she tried apple juice this summer at my parents and LOVES it.

@Beehive: stawbaby! So cute! Strawberry is "stawbully" over here
He's had a few sips of OJ here and there, but we never keep juice in the house so he never asks for it.

Yes, he loves juice boxes, but we don't buy them, so he only gets them if we are at a party or something. Sometimes we will give him a little cup of OJ on the weekend with breakfast, but he usually prefers milk, anyway.

Nope, I'm steering clear from juice as long as possible - closest thing she's had is pedialyte when she was sick

Nope, not yet!
I'm curious about smoothies tho - can someone share their favourite recipe(s)? DD is 13 months and I feel like she would like smoothies for a snack or as a side at breakfast!
nectarine / 2973 posts
She gets watered down apple juice everyday. It's been a life saver for her constipation issues.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
Diluted a few times but it upsets her tummy. We used to give her diluted pear juice for constipation when she was a few months old and that didn't bother her.
pomelo / 5628 posts
D gets as much juice as he wants (but he's never had more than a couple of ounces in a day-he's just not a big drinker) because he's low weight and he takes iron and Vitamin C helps iron absorption.

Yes. Practically everywhere. At amusement parks, zoo outings, park outings, birthday parties and I even pack them occasionally for snack time. I also give her plenty of water so I'm okay with her drinking juice.
