Is it something that you try to avoid? Or is it really not that big of a deal, they will adjust?
Did you switch out of necessity, like moving? Or by choice?
We chose the more expensive center vs in-home last year for DD, but based on our financial situation, we might just have to switch her to the in-home if they still have a spot. Just something I possibly might have to put on the table as a possibility.

We switched at 15 months. She was fine. She had a couple weeks of bad drop offs, but as soon as I was gone she would stop crying.

We switched at one year. It was a couple of weeks of rough drop off, but it might have happened regardless of changing daycares.
We also switched again at four, which was really hard for ME! I was the crybaby.

We switched after about a year, they were closing the center, so we didn't have a choice. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise and my son did great. He was 3.

We switched at age 3 when I was due with baby#2 and the other center had much lower infant rates (older children rates are similar). In the long term it was a GREAT decision. She spent 2 years at the first place, 2 years at this place and then will go onto K.

We switched her after one month (she was 13 months old) when the daycare at my office building had a spot. She adjusted after 1 week.
We also switched her to a preschool after being at that daycare for 1.5 years but she had a 3 month break between schools.

We switched at 9 months not by choice. If we hadn't had too, I probably would've stayed with our original in-home as long as possible.
That said, we LOVE our new in-home even more and once he was settled in the new daycare, he was fine. There were no tears at the switch (just at our back-up interim day-care - for some reason he didn't like it there!)
If you're able to I'd maybe switch her gradually if you go that route, and just see how she does! Use them for a day and see if she likes it/hates it, and same for you.

We had to switch at 3 yrs 4 months because our location closed and the other ones were too far away. If it hadn't closed we would probably still be there.
But the transition was super smooth. We had a month to talk about it and then we went to an open house the weekend before he started. He was really excited about going to a new daycare.

Dd1 started a part time program, 4 mornings per week at 2yo. One week of bad drop offs, and she was fine. She just started a new prek program closer to home two weeks ago, and she had had zero problems and not a single tear shed. Adjusted beautifully. She is 3yo.

We're switching her to a preschool in August by choice. It's actually more expensive. I don't have any issues with our current center but the preschool offers amazing programs and I think will better prepare her for school. I'm hoping the transition goes ok.

DS is at an in-home daycare now because we really didn't have any other options (18 month waitlists in town + my mom abruptly quitting as our nannny). We intend to switch him to a 2 year old's preschool program at a church in September. I'm also contemplating pulling my son from the in-home before then and getting a nanny because the daycare plagues have been killing us, BUT its only been a month, so I guess I should hang in there.

We switched LO to a new preschool at age 3 with a program I liked better. She did great with the transition.

We switched. She had a heck of a time with the transition - took 4 weeks. But I think it's harder between ages 2 and 3. If we moved her now, I wouldn't be as worried about it.

Exact same situation as @Lawbee11 for the exact same reasons - we are hopefully switching in August, after 1.5 years at our current center, right before DS turns 2.

We have switched twice. The first time was from a nanny to a center at 22 months - some tears but ok. The second was from the center to a church based preschool - no issues. I'm actually thinking about changing him back to the center in September by choice because I think he learned more there.
Kids are really adaptable, I think your LO will be fine in either setting.

LO1 is on her 4th daycare/school, and she isn't even 4. She did one center FT up until 2.25. Then we moved, so she did a new preschool in our new state from 2.5-3.25. Then we moved again, so another new preschool. I had to pick it somewhat blind (no personal references since I didn't know anyone where we were moving) and was late to the game since most schools enroll in January (we didn't know where we were moving until May). I ended up not really liking it that much, so I switched her to one that our neighbors go to after the holiday break.
Phew. She has been fine with all of the transitions!

Over the course of 5 months LO1 went Center > Grandma 1 > Grandma 2> In home A> In home B> In home A. I wouldn't have chosen to do so many transitions but only one change was really optional. LO did fine.

We have had to switch T a number of times because of moves. He went to 3 different daycares and 2 different preschools in 3.5 years. A daycare in boston from 5-14 months...then a daycare part time in NM for 9 months....then another one for 2 months because the first closed. In Maine he went to one preschool for a little over a year....then we changed towns and he's been at another for a month. We plan to be here for a while so he'll be there until he starts K in 1.5 years. It's life. He's been fine, and he's flexible, fortunately.

We just moved her from an in home to a daycare/preschool. It's still an adjustment--she whines at drop off and often doesn't nap there. But i know it's good for her

We switched at 2 years 2 months because we were unhappy with the daycare. We love DS's current school. Such a better fit.

We switched pre-K this year, about 6 weeks in, when DD started telling me she hated it and it was boring. She's very happy in her current class after the move, with 5 days a week vs. 3, and older kids.

We have stayed at the same preschool for 2 years for LO1 and will continue with LO2 next year. We love the school and very happy with the education my LO receives.
