Daycare is having a Halloween party on Friday and are asking if parents can bring in treats.
I'm having a hard time coming up with something healthy I could bring. The only thing is it has to be nut free.
Any ideas please.

Hummus and orange Terra chips! They are no-salt added and really good. Or make your own sweet potato fries. Or pumpkin oat cookies. Or zucchini brownies.
If you want a sweet, but still healthy treat, try any of these recipes http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/

I saw some cute pretzel and string cheese "brooms" that you could assemble!

What about some pumpkin muffins? I'm making these for LO today.

@Anagram: Bookmarked that page. Thanks
@Bao: Either one. I was thinking of making something.
@lawbee11: Those sound good.
@blackbird: That is a cute idea.
Thanks ladies!

There are individual Halloween pretZel packets I saw at Costco. Also, string cheese?

I made these for the daycare Halloween party last year. Pineapple on the bottom, then mandarin oranges, then apples on top.

@MrsKMM: Was going to suggest them! You can also have them peeled with a small piece of celery or something else green for a stem.

I'm using Halloween cut outs on cheese slices!
I also assembled a take home treat bag with stickers, Annie fruit snacks, and a small box of crayons.
Lots of other ideas from my thread last year!

@kiddosc: that's super cute! Like candy corn! Did daycare have an issue with the skewers? Also did you put lemon juice on the apples to prevent from browning?

I've seen people cut cute shapes into babybel cheese. Or you can use halloween cookie cutters and cut shapes into fruit, veggies or pita and serve with dip.

You could also bring those little single serve fruit cups with Mandarin oranges in them and draw a face on the clear lid. I saw this on Pinterest.

@Mrs. D: I saw this too and am doing it for our Halloween party! Also applesauce pouches...the go go squeeze ones have a top that looks like a stem so I am going to wrap them with orange paper and turn them into pumpkins.

Packages of peaches or mandarin oranges in water and make a jackolantern face on top

@regberadaisy: I used lemon juice on the apples and sucker sticks instead of skewers with a pointy end. Daycare didn't say anything about it being a problem.

@winniebee: where do you find these in water?? The best i can find are the dole ones in 100% juice (as opposed to syrup).
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Mrs. Lion: it might be in 100% fruit juice - I don't look that closely! But I get some at whole foods. I know they at least aren't in syrup.

@Mrs. Lion: Target has them in water

On my School Treats Pinterest Board I've pinned a ton of these ideas and more: http://www.pinterest.com/trottd/food-school-treats-lunches-and-parties/
I like the Ninja Turtle apples, Cat in the Hat (Or Dora Map) Cheese strings, Chickie Fruit cups (maybe save for Easter), and Pirate Bananas. You'll also find a link to the orange cups myself and Mrs. Lion mentioned.
Let us know what you choose!

@Mrs. Lion: @lawbee11: just watch for added sweeteners in the ones packed in water. Most in our area say no sugar added, but add aspartame or sucralose instead!

I have these pinned to my Pinterest board - never attempted though! The bananas might turn brown, depending how long they were sitting out...

So many good ideas! Tomorrow at drop off I'm going to find out how many of something to bring and then that will help determine exactly what I choose.
@Mrs. D: @Mrs. Lion: I really like the fruit cup idea.

@ALV91711: i buy the dole fruit juice ones at sams club if that helps much cheaper that way if you need a bunch!

@tinyperson: yeah, the target ones packed in water are artificially sweetened. But there are the mew ones sweetened with monk fruit....whatever that is.
