I don't know if it's the right thing to do, but it is certainly something I would do/try!

DS did the same thing but wouldn't take a paci at that time. The LC I saw called him a "barracuda baby" and basically said good luck. I will say that it did get better as he got older and now at 4m it doesn't feel like he is going to suck my nipple off anymore.

You also could try to pump for a minute or two to stimulate a let down and then when she latches the milk will be flowing. Essentially that is what the baby is trying to do, get the milk out!!

P was a pretty ravenous eater at first & occasionally at 9 months she'll do it but overall it does get easier! On the bright my barracuda eater caused feedings to be pretty short! lol

I would definitely see if you can stimulate the breast enough to engage a letdown before latching so that your lo may just suckle "normal" since they'll already have all that yummy milk there!

Oh man. I feel for you. LO was and still is! She nurses in 3 minutes now sometimes, unless she is lazy. Then it's 5!

@Andrea: yup one side..sometimes she will nurse both, sometimes one. She's been comfort nursing lately which is unlike her, so we have 3-5 min of active sucking then another 4-5 of comfort nursing.
