The title is it, really! S is so used to bottles she's gone v lazy on breast, but refused a bottle just now and is getting frustrated with boob.

Make a sandwich with the breast to flatten it with your thumb on one side and other fingers on the other side. Then start from the tip of baby's nose and touch it with the nipple. Trace the nipple down to the upper lip until baby's mouth is wide open. Then when the mouth is nice and big, place the nipple and areola as deep into the mouth as you can while you gently but firmly hold the back of baby's head. Voila! Deep latch.

What Mrs. Jacks said, plus try using a soother pacifier before feeding. Get the baby to suck, and then push down gently to get the tongue down and help the sucking to be deeper.

@Mrs. Jacks: I do this--also if LO loosens his new deep latch, I pinch the areola again and hold it so he sucks more in at the next suck--unfortunately no letting go or he'll take a shallow latch again

@pastemoo: @Mrs. Jacks I do this, as well. I also currently have to hold her head and my breast so she doesn't slip down into a shallow latch. Good luck, @aunt pol!

Thanks girls. Moving to all bottle this week, the latch improved but s still is v lazy on boob, seems to think it should have an automatic setting:)
