I've decided to wean off my 8 month old, whose currently EBF, but i don't know where to start. DD went on a bottle strike at 3 months, while she was taking both breastmilk and formula, and has been refusing a bottle & formula ever since. At that time it was no big deal because I decided to be a SAHM for her first year. Now, I need to wean her off because: supply has gone down, DD has only gained 8 ounces in the past 2 months, & I need to go on meds. I haven't been able to retrain her regardless of whether there's breastmilk or formula in the bottle. Before she went on a bottle strike she was drinking out of dr browns, but now refuses them. I've tried tommy tippe and NUK with same result. The other problem is that I solely need to do this because DH works long hours. Does anybody have any recommendations on how I can wean her off?

when my son went on a bottle strike, here's what helped us:
-warming the bottle (we don't normally warm the formula), we played with some different temps, and it seemed to help.
-trying different bottle nipples (the expensive boob shaped ones weren't always the best in our case)
-bouncing my leg while he's on my lap (i still have to do this when he's fighting a bottle) - obv not majorly jerking, but for whatever reason it really helps him focus and take the bottle
-start on the boob and then slide the bottle nipple in, or guide baby's face into a nursing type position against your boob and slide the nipple in.
-if he's really fighting it, I just give him a break because I don't want to create a negative association. sometimes he just needs to regroup and will eat a few minutes or an hour later. sometimes he just needs to be really hungry.good luck!

@Mrs. Jacks: thanks for reminding about the blog post. I tried some of your recommendations but was unsuccessful in bottle training DD. Feeding her while she's distracted worked for a few days. So we decided to go on date. My sister watched her for a few hours but she cried and cried and refused to take a bottle. Immediately after, she reverted and cries when we show her the bottle.

@X0X0X0: Try a piping hot bottle... for some reason that worked pretty well for us. (But not hot enough to burn, of course!)
