Hey Houston ladies, I was going to wait until we met next weekend, but I'm getting desperate. I was wondering if any of you would consider doing a nanny share with us?
I'm currently looking for nannies, regardless of if we can do a nanny share, but it would be much more affordable if we could split it. DD is bot thriving in daycare so we have to search for other options.

LO won't be here until August and I will probably be on maternity leave until February, so I am not much help...sorry! I have heard good things about care.com for finding nannies, and you can search by zip code so you could find someone near you.
ETA: Or @leialou would be a really good nanny, too!

I used to be a nanny for many years and I used care.com or sittercity.com to find my nanny families, it's a very safe way to do it. They do background checks if you request.

@Leialou: ha! Don't tempt me unless you're serious! Poor DD can't sleep at daycare because she is such a light sleeper and so alert. Couple that with the fact that she's always sick at daycare and on antibiotics at least once a month, and I can't get her out of daycare fast enough. I mean, I absolutely adore her daycare mammas but she needs to be out until she can get down to one nap.
It's heartbreaking to pick her up each day. She's so overtired, that she just cries and cries until she can pass out from exhaustion. 
I watch her from the webcam and I see how hard they try to get her to sleep, but she still won't sleep.

@BabyBoecksMom: That's really cool! Well when you search on the site for nannies, read reviews on them if anyone left any. Check how often they reply to emails ("replies to 40%" of emails), is probably not a very reliable person. Then contact them and you can ask some initial questions. If all goes well you can set up an interview

@Bao: Yes thank you! I know what I want her nanny to be like but I don't have a good way of identifying which ones even meet the criteria. I definitely appreciate the tips.

@BabyBoecksMom: yeah if you come up with a few questions to have them answer via email you will get a really good idea of who will be good and who will not. Good luck!!

@BabyBoecksMom: My sister lives in the Woodlands and is switching to a nanny for the same reason. I think she has a friend that is going to do a nanny share with her, but I'll check to make sure she found someone. I can also check to see if they'd want to add a third family... I think her friend only needs care part time.

@78h2o: Thank you! That would be great!! It would depend on where in The Woodlands she lives, though. I live by IAH, but work in The Woodlands. So, depending on the location, it just might work out.

I saw on another thread that your LO might be getting tubes? My sister's baby is 9 months and has to get them as well! I asked my husband's cousin, who is an ENT, about it and he said that it's really the best thing to do when they are having so many ear infections like that. Would be hard though.

Would you be interested in a nanny share with me? I have a wonderful, sweet, loving nanny that I don't need as much because my three children are getting older. I want to keep her one day a week for the rest of our lives but would love for her to find a kind family to work for 1 or 2 days a week. She is only Spanish speaking, I speak very little Spanish and it hasn't been an issue for us. She doesn't drive but she can take the bus and walk to your residence. She has become a part of my family and I just want to find her another nice family to work for.
