Just curious how you found child care? I think we are committed to wanting a center so we started there and just went with the one that was closest to home that several friends recommended.
I would like to do some more research though but its really hard!

I looked up the centers in my area via the internet, called and asked if they had availability. Only one did, so I made an appointment to see that one, while putting myself on the waiting list for a spot at a center where my mother was teaching.
I ended up going with the center where my mom was teaching.

Lots of research. I did a google search of all daycares within a reasonable area or driving distance, and wrote them all down. Then I went to the licensing site, and checked for violations. Any center with a worrying amount of violations was axed. After that, I called for prices, and asked friends and co-workers for recommendations.
Since I live in a small town, that narrowed it down to about 6, all of which we then visited to get the vibes of the place. 4 of those made the cut, so we put our name on the waitlist. After THAT, I made a few phone calls over the months, a couple visits, and narrowed it down to one based on things like convenience, price, and if the workers were rude to me. I was pretty surprised how rude people could be to someone who wanted to give them money!!
Anyhoo, that narrowed it down to 1, and luckily she got in!

I looked up the centers in my area online, then referenced those with their state inspections. (In my state the Department of Public Welfare does these inspections.) They immediately ruled out some of the centers for me! Out of those that were acceptable, only 2 had openings. We're really happy with our choice though.

We found our nanny share through a neighborhood listserv for parents. Most of the good daycares in our area didn't have room for baby's LOs age.

We asked around and my boss, workout buddies and another coworker all went to the same place, so it had to be good.

We knew we wanted a center, so looked for all those centers that were nearby and licensed by the state on the state website. We then called to get info on availability and rates and toured those that we were still interested in at that point.
