And why did you decide to go that route as opposed to a traditional day care center?
Just trying to suss out all of our options.

I am on a local moms group on Facebook. I posted there asking for recs and was given a few and I looked into all of them. I also searched previous questions about daycare providers and saw lots of people recommended her. I visited a bunch of in home and centers, and I just knew right away that this was the one. She is Colombian, makes homemade breakfast and lunch everyday, is super friendly and warm, and I jut had a good vibe about her. Her house was super clean and she had a playroom and huge backyard with toys. There is a quieter napping area too, which I really liked. All of the centers I looked at seemed just cold and not for us. I liked that LO had 1 "teacher" every day and could easily bond with her. Do you have any moms groups on FB that you could ask for recs for?

I teach her kids at school. I knew I wanted to go that route because my parents did with me. It allows LO to be social but without so many in a daycare. LO loves it.

I was looking on the CPS website for various daycares for their deficiencies and violations; and came across her daycare!

I knew I wanted in home for sure when she was an infant, becaus I wanted her to have that personal care. I found her through my BFF, who found her through her sister. She was the only one I interviewed and we fell in love with her. She treats my daughter like her own & my daughter loves her whole family. Her teenage daughters even our go to babysitters for nights out

Ditto what @Alivoo01: said.
And, well, unfortunately we did try a traditional daycare center first. I thought they would be more likely to follow rules and regulations and have more resources like outside play equipment, etc. We researched and visited and everything and were set, but they dropped the ball in a big way on her first day and I realized that I needed to look at smaller outfits. Then I found 'the one' and have never looked back.

I cried leaving the traditional daycare I was sure DD would go to. It just didn't feel like the right fit. My boss recco'd the home daycare we ended up sending DD to.

We got the names of a few home daycare centers in our area from care.com and then checked them all out. I'd initially wanted to go with a big daycare center, but the waiting lists around here are crazy. Plus the fees were about what you'd pay for a good college.
The first home daycare center we saw I cried the entire way home after seeing it. And then a spot opened up at our current home daycare and as soon as we saw it I knew it was the right place. Its not fancy, but its clean and homey, there's a separate infant napping room and we just got a good feeling watching the owner interact with all the children. She's incredibly warm and A. gets a lot of one on one attention.
I'm really glad that we didn't get into one of the big centers. I think home daycare is perfect for us for the infant/early toddler phase until A. needs more educational programming.

I found our daycare on Yelp actually. We visited a few daycares in our neighborhood. I got a call back from the owner. We visited her in home daycare the same day. She impressed us with her staff and knowledge. She's in school for early child ed. She seeks out grants for more educational opportunities. She's been around children all of her life. When she said that doing daycare was easier than managing clients in the corporate world, I knew she was good. We've been with them for over a year now. Also, our personalities work together well for the most part. There's been a few hiccups, but overall, it's been a good relationship for LO, DH, I, and our daycare provider.

Bumping this thread because I'm also having the hardest time even finding people who do in-home daycare in my area. Care.com has practically nothing. Yelp has nothing. Craigslist has a few options but they all seem really shady.
I've been prospecting day care centers but they are SO expensive in my area, so I'm hoping to find someone in-home, and I'm having no luck. So frustrating.
