And how old was s/he?
Z has just started chewing her tongue and jawing so i think at 5 months (tomorrow!) i think she may be ready.... Or is that just something babies do and I'm misinterpreting....?
I've already decided that a banana will be her first food and I'm really excited for her!

I wasn't really looking for signs since I was so bent on making sure he was EBF for at least 6 months. And he took to them right away -- I do think waiting helped make for a very smooth learning curve. After three or four days he was eating entire containers of purees.

We waited for 6 months because that's what the doctor said to do. She had a hard time in the beginning, she would just spit everything out because she didn't understand swallowing it yet. But after a while she got the hang of it.

She was showing interest in our food at around 4-5 months so we had a feeling that she would like to eat. We waiting until around 5.5-6 months when our pediatrician gave us the OK. Sure enough, she loved food right away.
