This sounds kind of silly, but how do I stop pumping at work? Right now I've cut back to one pumping session a day, usually around 3-4pm. Should I just stop, or is there a gradual way I should cut back? What worked for you?

When did you cut back to one session? I gradually went from 3 to 2 to 1 and then stopped (maybe like a week or two of each). I dealt with a little bit of engorgement but my body adjusted.
I think you can just stop since you're already down to one session.

I just stopped. I brought my pump the first few days just in case I got engorged but it was fine. This was at 13 mos pp or so and my supply had been dwindling. If you are down to one pump you would probably be fine. If you have trouble with clogged ducts maybe cut your session time a few days to taper?

@beehive: Haha! I'm wondering the same thing tonight! Debating whether I should bring my pump to work tomorrow. Hmmmm.

@SleepyMonkey: me too! I think after reading this, I will bring my pump just in case. Sounds like tomorrow is quitting day! It will be so weird not pumping!

@mrsjazz: @MamaCate: Thanks! I cut back to one session about a month ago, I think... so I am pretty well adjusted to that (and I think it really made my supply go down, actually!).
@SleepyMonkey: @78h2o: So exciting! Well done ladies, amazing that we're at the point where we're stopping. I think I'll bring my pump tomorrow just in case it's horrible, but hopefully I won't need it.

@78h2o: @Beehive: congrats on making it this far! I hope things go well for you both without the pump today! I felt like I had so much time once I stopped pumping, even though I tried to be as efficient as I could. Hope the same is true for you!

I was pumping three times a day at work, so I just cut out one session every week till I was just nursing morning and night.

I would take your pump with you to work (leave it there, maybe?) when you do stop. I kept mine here as a "just in case I'm dying" option. I never needed it (because I just hated pumping that much) but it felt good to know it was there.
Since you dropped to 1 a month ago, I'd say you drop it and see what happens. YAY CONGRATS!!!

I'm wondering this too! I can't decide if i want to stop though. I'm still mostly doing 2 pumps a day but last week I was lazy and only did one and I did fine. I think since you're already down to 1, you should be able to stop. Or maybe go every other day for a week and then next week stop?

I just cut my pumping session at work on Friday!! (11 months here still pumping morning and night). I went cold turkey and I was uncomfortable for a day but was fine after. It feels so weird to be almost done... The end of an era!

Thanks guys! You're all so supportive. So I did it... no pumping today! I was able to wait until LO was ready for his bedtime nursing at 7:30. It was a bit uncomfortable starting around 5, but not terrible. Hopefully tomorrow will also go well.

Awesome! I was going to say, I did about the same, once I got my one session late in the day I just tried not pumping. There were a few days I had to pump still, but just did enough to take the edge off. I still keep a manual pump at work just in case.

@SleepyMonkey: it went ok for you? @Beehive: yay!
Nice work ladies. I was fine without pumping too. So nice not deal with all of that! I'm just hoping my supply will allow am and pm feeds for awhile longer.

@78h2o: congrats! yep! made it thru the work day without pumping. yippy! i was uncomfortable and still nursed when i got home and then before bed. to be free of the pump, however, feels amazing!!!

I want to so this but am already having supply issues ! I only pump once at work - wondering if my supply will dip even more if I start skipping it

@SleepyMonkey: @78h2o: Hooray! So good to hear that it's working for you guys too.

@78h2o: glad it worked for you. My supply for am/pm nursing lasted another 7 mos after I stopped pumping so I hope you are able to nurse as long as you and LO decide!
@Beehive: so glad it worked out!
