Just thinking about the future... if DH and I are working and we want to enroll LO in preschool, what do you do when preschool is a half day - do you HAVE to get a nanny that can pick them up from preschool? Or are you limited to daycares that have preschool programs?

I'm not quite there with my LO, but all of the preschools in our area have extended day programs, as do many elementary schools. My DD's daycare continues through preschool, so we'll most likely just keep her there.

we staggered our work schedules to accommodate morning drop-off for preschool and i only work halftime, so i can do pick up. my friend has a home daycare provider that drives and picks up her daughter, so that's also an option. my other friends who work full-time have their kids in a preschool/daycare situation.

Our preschool and most around have extended day care. The only ones that don't are parochial programs. Since we needed full day program, those just werent an option for us.

Well, this year we are doing full time preschool (well 8:00 - 4:30 so not quite full day). Next year we are doing 1/2 day one program and 1/2 day at the program he is currently in. Next year when he is 3 he will do full day at the new program.

Around here, most daycares offer preschool programs. Obviously some daycares are a bit more academic than others but most offer the state's free VPK (Voluntary Pre Kindergarten) program.
