urgh I am so sick of changing outfits or stripping P to his diaper to eat, I feel like I dress him 100000x a day. boy is the messy eater, gets it everywhere. seriously, even IN his diaper, how is that possible?!?

Those giant A&A bibs and getting him as close to the table as possible.
I kind of let him feed himself and get a little messy. DH cleans him every time he drops a speck of food while he's eating. Now he goes, "uh-oh! uh-oh!" when he drops food and won't continue to eat until it's been cleaned. Thanks, DH. -
I do not try. It would be like trying to circumvent a force of nature. The only time we don't do diaper-only eating is if we are out. Then we use two bibs (one bumkins with short sleeves, and one A&A burpy bib to catch liquids). We often still have to change clothes. I think it's really normal for toddlers and older infants to just eat messily and there are different ways of handling it (do serious coverage bibs, let them get messy in their clothes, strip down to just a diaper, try to let them self feed foods that are "neater" and you assist with messier stuff, etc.).

Honestly we've NEVER used a bib, even as an infant. He isn't really a messy eater and never really has been, but I think a lot of that has to do with him being older when we were finally able to introduce solids and the fact that he could only have one food at a time for so long. Regardless I would just let him do his thing and deal with the little bit of mess later. I think it's just par for the course with having a LO that is in the eating stage.

My LO is way to concerned about shoveling as much food in her little mouth as possible to let any go to waste. Seriously... if some gets on her bib, she puts her bib in her mouth and sucks it off!

I don't. If it is really messy he is in his diaper (or nakers) otherwise I just let him be in dirty clothes. It doesn't hurt him to be dirty.

Full body bibs. With long sleeves. And even thn sometimes an outfit change is necessary.

Ditto what @hilsy85: said. We use the IKEA full bibs and they work great at catching things. Honestly, i try not to worry too much about keeping LO clean because it's only going to get worse once they start feeding themselves.
She went through a messy phase, then a clean phase, and now it's back to messy now that she wants to use a spoon on her own.

I don't. She hates bibs and so I just bathe her after. There really is no other way.

I gave up on trying to keep LO clean. However, sometimes I'm tempted to take him in the front yard and hose him off. Am I bad mom? LOL

Bibs with pockets seem to help us. LO isn't super messy now. It could change in the future.
