I hated using this changing table with my LO but I will give it another shot for Baby 2.
How did you line it?

We were too lazy to put it all together, we only use the pack n play for sleeping. Even at hotels or someones house when we had no changing table we prefer a couch or bed, i just put a portable changing pad out.

We just drape a plush blanket in top of it. Works well for us, and then it's not cold.

Carter's Lap Pad too... There's a large size for bassinets, and it fits perfectly on our Bright Starts PNP changing table. We used them in our bassinet too, anyway.

We use this thing : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001KZH6A6
Love having them around for changes, burps etc. we also stuck one of the blankets from the hospital under there @ first.
I wasn't the hugest fan of the changer either, seemed like he rolled towards me, BUT it was convenient 1st week home.
