I never wear make up but that's not to say I shouldn't be.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Good enough that I don't care? I almost never wear it unless we're going out or something, and even then barely any.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Young and plain. I wear glasses at work...eye makeup is a must!
pomelo / 5220 posts
I'm like you @Anagram - blonde eyelashes and damn blepharitis so I look tired and usually puffy if I don't wear at least mascara. I like to wear eye liner too, to mask how puffy my lids are

Terrible <-- my opinion. Like a cabbage patch doll <-- DH's opinion. Another one cursed with blonde eyelashes and eyebrows!
grapefruit / 4997 posts
I hardly wear makeup and look fine without it. I wear it for special events mostly.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Washed out, a little goes a long way with my face. some powder foundation, eyeliner, and mascara makes my skin look even and eyes pop.

I don't like the way I look w/o at least a little coverup under my eyes and some mascara on.
@mediagirl: that gave me tears thank you
bananas / 9118 posts
Meh, most of the time I don't care enough to make an effort
I definitely look fresher and more polished when I do, but really the effort is just too much for me to do it more than a couple times a week.

not great. i have freckles and uneven skin tone from years of sun worshiping. a little tinted moisturizer and mascara go a long way for me!
pear / 1672 posts
I guess I look okay. I barely wear any, and when I do, it's not very much.
nectarine / 2932 posts
I think I look 'ok' without makeup when my skin is cooperating. It currently isn't (and hasn't since I went off BC) so I definitely need some foundation. Mascara is always a must, though.

I think I look fine.....I never wear make-up! Well I shouldn't say that. If I'm going somewhere fancy, then I do! Otherwise....no make-up for me!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
I just look like I haven't slept in years. Dark undereye circles.. yay!
kiwi / 742 posts
Just awful. My skin is blotchy so I think I look like a train wreck without some type of foundation to even it out. If I had great skin I don't think I would care.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
I haven't left the house without makeup since high school!
My face has the last evidence that I was once blonde, so without makeup it looks like I have no eyelashes or eyebrows. I've always had bags under my eyes too, so I always at least use concealer, powder, blush and mascara.
pomegranate / 3212 posts
Once, in front of everyone, a coworker asked if I had a black eye. I told I had just not worn make-up that day. I *almost* felt bad about how embarrassed he got!

Horrible. Like an unpopular teenager. My issue is my skin. I have so many blemishes, marks, and scars that without concealer I have the world's worst pizza face skin. I rarely wear makeup because I work from home, and I thought that would help my skin- nope.
pear / 1609 posts
@MapleMoose: ditto. I get "is this your little brother" when I'm with DS with no makeup.
pomelo / 5720 posts
@rahlyrah: lol. This is exactly how I feel too I feel like I look so tired and washed out...I almost never leave the house without makeup unless I'm headed to the gym.

@knittylady: lol!
My dad once asked me why I had big black circles under my eyes. I was like, "Ummm I'm tired and not wearing makeup?!"
I wear makeup daily, even if I don't leave the house. I look tired and washed out without it,

I've never learned how to apply makeup well, not beyond very basic eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow, and blush anyways. So I rarely wear it, although it does make a difference when I do. But I have good skin and I'm used to the way I look with nothing on. I think I have good bones, but I look pretty boring and plain without anything.
pomelo / 5509 posts
I guess I think I look OK since I rarely wear it - only for special occasions! I think I look "pretty" when I wear makeup, but that I don't really look like myself, if that makes sense.
coconut / 8861 posts
I look tired with big bags under my eyes. I even wear my glasses sometimes so I don't have to put concealer on for the bags. I've started wearing makeup when we take LO out on the weekends. I figure if I'm going to take pics of him and possibly some family ones, I should really wear some makeup.
coconut / 8430 posts
I look tired! I don't wear a toN of makeup but if I leave the house I will wear concealer and curl my eyelashes. I used to always wear mascara too but I've been lazy lately.
pineapple / 12566 posts
I don't wear makeup other than the occasional swipe of lipstick, so I think I look ok.
pear / 1743 posts
Normal - I work with teenagers (well, I did) and there's no way I want to make myself look more desirable for them! They'll already comment if I wear anything form-fitting; bloody hormones!

A "bit peaky" according to my mother - ie tired and washed out. But I work in a research lab, so with safety glasses on and my hair pulled back and a bunch of nerdy male coworkers - who cares?! If I'm going somewhere special or giving a presentation or something then I'll make an effort.
(Another one blessed with blonde eyelashes/eyebrows here, and a tonne of freckles. On the other hand, if I try and add too much colour - even just a little brown to my eyebrows I quickly look like a transvestite/cheap hooker....not good.)

Geez, you guys are hard on yourselves. I think I look better with makeup, since I can play up my "assets" (eyes, lips) and downplay the less picture perfect things (zits, undereye circles, super pasty skin). But it's just an enhancement, makeup isn't what makes you beautiful.
kiwi / 659 posts
Gross! Haha.. My skin is pretty clear now, but after years of being self-conscious about acne, I still feel most comfortable with at least concealer on.. Usually just that and mascara if I'm going really low-maintenance. But for work/ going out I do foundation, concealer, eyeliner, mascara & bronzer. We'll see how that changes once LO gets here!!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I love makeup, but I don't apply it very artfully, so I am sure I could do it better.
For me, it is part of my total package. I put thought into. My hair, my clothing, my skin, not for anyone else, but for me.
clementine / 984 posts
I prefer no makeup, and only wear minimal makeup for work to help me look older. I only regularly started wearing it weekdays after i started my career, so I'm comfortable, happy, and confident without it. I wish it wasn't a "thing" for women...the vast majority of men are naked faced all the time and no one bats an eye or criticizes them like we do ourselves. It's a shame, IMHO.
honeydew / 7917 posts
I don't wear makeup unless it's a special event (once in the past year). I think I look decent without it. DH can't even tell when I do wear makeup since I put so little on. Even on my wedding day, I had barely any on because I was too lazy.
bananas / 9227 posts
The older I get, the more I think I look younger without all the makeup.
