the day we first had unprotected sex i started taking them.... lol. earlier than that is probably preferred but I didn't think I'd get KU'd that first cycle!

my doc said 3 months, so I started popping them early! They certainly can't hurt

I've taken them instead of a regular multivitamin since I was 22. My old gyno recommended that any woman of childbearing age take them in case of an unplanned pregnancy. I was used to taking a vitamin daily so it was easy to just switch it.

I started taking a folic acid supplement about 3 months before we officially began TTCing.

I started 3 months before, but I took a break in between out of frustration then went back on them.

I started taking them when I first went off the pill, 3 months before starting TTC. However, midway through my last (140 day) cycle I lost motivation and stopped taking them. I just started up again when I started Clomid at the end of that cycle.

A year, but that's because ttc took way longer than we planned. I started them once I stopped the pill. This time around I never stopped taking them because I had just weaned before my bfp.

I started taking them in August and we started TTC in December.

3 months before. Like @pui, I've lost motivation along the way..... trying to be better about remembering.

4 months. My doctor told me to start 3 months before but I was out of multivitamins so I just bought prenatals.

I don't think I started them until right before we started TTC. Little did I know we would be so lucky and get KU right away!

6 months to a year before. I was doing the gummy prenatals for awhile. When we got serious about TTC, I started Rainbow Light One prenatals. I still take them even though we're not TTC and I'm not breastfeeding.

I started in October or November and we got pregnant in January. I was glad I did because my OB advised that there are added benefits to taking them prior to conceiving, I believe it was autism related. I don't recall exactly what she said but just took from it early prenatals = better.

My RE prescribed me a prenatal at my first appointment, so it was about 6 months for me.
She told me that women my age should be taking a multivitamin everyday, even if they are preventing pregnancy!

I really need to start taking a multivitamin. Maybe I will start with that, and as it gets closer to TTC, I will switch to prenatals a couple months prior.

I didn't start a prenatal until I got my bfp... but when I miscarried I just kept taking them. So, I was on them for 6 months before conceiving.

I think I just switched to prenatals at some point as an adult. Before I got married even. I just figured it would be good to start early but I'm sure 3 months out is perfect.

I started taking them when we began TTC, but to be honest, wasn't great about taking them regularly. I'm still not! (I'm nursing)

I started taking them as soon as we decided to try. I think it was about 3-4 months prior to getting pregnant. I can't remember exactly. They definitely won't hurt! A lot of people take them every day because they help your hair and nails grow and look healthy.

I started taking them in July. I went off BC in October. We started earnestly trying in January. Got pregnant in April.
ETA: I liked the NatureMade prenatal +DHA. And now I take their postnatal +DHA. They never upset my stomach, and it's only 1 pill per day, unlike the first one I tried that was 3 per day!

I think about 6 months? My doctor said that if there was any chance I could get pregnant, I should already be taking a vitamin because by the time you see the double line, your body is already starting to draw on its reserves of things like folic acid. We weren't trying yet at that point, but I knew that it was technically possible for me to get pregnant so I started taking them.
Oh, and I'm terrible about remembering so I have a reminder set up on my phone...and I STILL sometimes put it off if I'm busy then, and then forget for that day. But it definitely helps me remember to take them most days.

@Mrsbells: Same!
I didn't start til I was pregnant. I eat really well, so I wasn't worried about vitamin deficiencies. I wasn't even super strict with taking mine as it was

I started them as soon as I went off BC. I went off them in May and got pregnant in July, so I am glad that I did!

We started TTC at the spur of the moment. As soon as I tossed my BC I started taking prenatals.

@psw27: @Mrsbells: I have a prescription for Prenate Mini. After trying a bunch of samples, it was the smallest one that seemed to have everything in it My Dr. recommended the vitafusion gummies for OTC ones.

I started them 2-3 months before we started TTC, not long after I went off of birth control.
