Not really, as we go to church, so she does get it at home. They do learn a special grace they use at school before eating and that God loves them, but that's about it.

I am really surprised that its actually something that most people DON'T want and are even against. I guess I would have an issue with someone pushing deep thoughts/ideas on my daughter that I personally didn't believe in, but in my mind, at this age, religious education is more like character ed (such as love one another and give thanks). In my mind, that basic foundation is a huge piece of most religions.

@T.H.O.U.: you can still learn/teach that [character] without making it a religious thing.

It's also important to us that there be no religious education at daycare/preschool.

@TurtleDoves: absolutely. I guess in my head (although probably unfounded) I feel like religious based ones are maybe more focused on it then what I have seen in the secular centers.

As lapsed Catholics, we are still searching for our "home base", church-wise. We have not fully decided if we will raise DD in a religious home. Until we make that decision, I don't think I would have any need for a faith-based education.

even though hubs and i are atheists i wouldn't mind if lo went to a preschool with a slight religious slant, if only to get a little biblical knowledge. i'm super paranoid that because of mine and dh's decision to not raise lo in church he will be completely ignorant of anything bible-related. and like it or not, biblical references are everywhere!
i would like to know ahead of time tho what exactly they will be taught so that i can prepare myself for any questions lo brings home.

@T.H.O.U.: It's really important to me that we teach our kid(s) to love one another, treat others as they'd like to be treated and give thanks. And I'm an atheist heathen!

We send DS to a Lutheran preschool (although we aren't Lutheran). They don't really teach about religion but the basics of love/accept everyone.

LO is in a wonderful Christian preschool. We are so happy with our choice because she is so loved and is learning from a loving team of people with a heart to serve God.
